It was only this past weekend that we got our first glimpse of the MT6589T powered Zopo C2 16GB Platinum, but Zopo have already sent us a sample for hands on and review!

We actually received this Zopo C2 16GB Platinum review unit from the official Zopomobileshop who are selling this phone for $279.99.

What are the differences? – numerous great updates!

The biggest selling point for many will be the 1.5Ghz Mediatek MT6589T processor which offers better performance and a faster GPU speed, but this isn’t the only difference between the current Zopo C2 and the Zopo C2 Platinum!

Another great update is the boost in internal memory from 4GB to 16GB allowing you more flexibility. The final update is the Corning Gorilla Glass 2 display for extra peace of mind when out and about!

Along with the updates the Zopo C2 16GB Platinum boasts the same great hardware of the original phone, but with the option of a white finish. The display is a 5-inch 1080 unit, there is 1GB RAM, space for an SD card and dual SIM plus a 13 mega-pixel rear camera and very impressive 8 mega-pixel front camera!

First Impressions – Well made and powerful!

Our Zopo C2 16GB Platinum appears to be fresh off the production line and didn’t even come in a Zopo box, that’s just how new this phone is!

The C2 is a very well made phone, much better than the UMi X2 and on par with the excellent JiaYu G4. The body is thin and sturdy and the overall impression is of a high quality device, one which could last for quite a while!

I just love this phone, either C2/ZP980/Plus/Platinium or whatever it’s called!
(BTW, naming conventions are rather confused between C2 and 980 for international sellers).
I’ve ordered the ZP980+ 2/32 from FastCardTech: delivery expected in less than a week now 🙂 Hoping i won’t be disappointed :/
If do you do explain me how to make a “real” post with lotsa text and pictures, i’ll be my great pleasure to “un-box” it for you and other ppl here…
(still have to do it for my latest Goophone X7…)

Cool… I love it, it looks so sleek. Too bad it doesn’t come with 2GB of RAM, would fit better with the premium approach and the added CPU power. Can you please provide full sized camera sample photos? That would be awesome

In every review , i miss how the devices function in full daylight.
Perhaps you can show us that in the future,
If you want to call someone or want to take a picture you can hardly see anything on the screen .

where you able to root it? I have a h920+ wich also has mtk6589t and the mtk6589 root doesn’t work

Can anyone tell, what’s the difference between the mtk6589and mt6589T, I mean all the reports talk about a higher clock speed, but I can set that myself.. Is there also a die size reduction, is there any architecture change? Someone please tell?

Xiaomi Mi2 score was 14700 which is a Snapdragon 1.5 quadcore with 2GB ram with 720p screen and 4.3’in screen. C2 scored 14092 with 1080p, 1gb ram, same 1.5 gh cpu. which suggests this turbo process is better than the Mi2’s?
pretty impressive, running on 1GB it’s better when compared to screen res.

Great it looks like the zopo zp980 4.2 english rom can be flashed on the new mtk6589T rom that is faster.

I bought C2 mtk6589(deliver to me now). But people say that the biggest problem on zp C2 and 980 it’s a ghost touches when you swiping message. Andi do you have any problem with it?

Andi, can you use z-device test to see the real resolution of cameras? It’s the “picture size”. Also what about MHL?

@ Andi- I would love to see the Nenamark 2 scores for the new 6589T processor, I think the the GPU frequency upgrade on the Turbo is of much more significance than the processor clock speed upgrade specially for Full HD phones like the C2. Please do test it out.

How is the touch sensitivity?
Seems like some of the touches registers as double touches in the video (zooming)
My Ainol tablet does the same thing sometimes :/

Hey there. This is my first post but I’ve been lurking for 1 month now. 🙂
I would really like a decent quality build, max 9mm slim, with 6578T and 2GB RAM. I like 1080p but it had to have a very big battery for intensive use (many mails, many many viber (3 hours call day and about 100 sms), many browsing and music and also some games).
I’m looking for someting like this one but would rather have it with 2GB RAM.
This looks really nice and I think better (and slimmer) than my other option: Jiayu G4.
Can you tell me how they stand in quality terms? Is this one better build and gives better feeling than Jiayu G4?
It seems the rummored Jiayu G5 with bigger battery would be the choice?

  This is on par with the G4 for build. The C2 seems to fit what you want, there will be a 2GB version soon too, but the battery is 2000mAh. You might want to wait for the G4 Turbo.

Hi Andi,
The front-facing camera is only 5MP, with interpolation to 8.0MP.
I’m waiting for the 2GB 32GB Black version, maybe on the 10th of Juli…

  i am not sure where u can find in in beijing but apparently i went to hongkong and found it selling in a reputable electronics store called fortress the zp980 version so i am guessing zopo is pretty reputable. u can try electronic stores i guess (the bigger ones). But if u buy from the street or small shops u should keep in mind the price first as china tends to rip people off.Also if u are willing to take the risk u can try buying from taobao the phone and shipping it to your hotel(u must get the timing right)

pliz when playing games don’t play temple run or such…play a heavy 3d game e.g. ModernCombat 4 has lens flares,lighting and all (perfect for testing)…we all know it can blast temple run anyway…#justsayin

I have the original C2, and I must say, I think the build quality is awful :s
Actually, not the build quality, everything is very detailed and fits well, its more the sturdiness. I feel like I could snap the phone in half with one hand.
If I hold it like a hamburger 😉 with 2 hands, I can bend the entire phone with very, very little force. Is this also true for the international version?
(I am coming from an Iphone 4, which is a pretty solid phone).
Reason I ask, the C2 was in my back pocket, I sat down on a very cushiony soft couch, cracked the screen…
And how does your Mi2 compare in solidness? (I’m thinking of the upcoming Mi3 for my next phone)

  Just tried what you described on the C2. There is flex there that’s for sure. Xiaomi Mi2 has none.

    I liked my C2 a lot, they have a very good support team as well, working on the firmware problems. And I really like the sleek look of it.
    But the ghost touches are very annoying (the faster I type, the more often they appear). The battery dropping 20% after a reboot is also a bit strange, but fixable. (maybe you can test that as well).
    But it appears I need something a bit more solid. It’s because of that flex that my screen cracked unfortunately.
    Its still my car mp3 player for now until a replacement screen becomes cheaper 🙂
