Earlier this week we received a very odd phone, a Zopo ZP980 with a 1.5ghz quad-core MT6589 Turbo processor! Keep reading to see our hands on video plus some photo samples!
This week Chinese phone reseller DinoBulk sent us a Zopo ZP980 for us to review. We, and they, were under the impression that this phone was a standard 1.2Ghz MT6589 quad-core unit but it turns out it was not!
After running Antutu we found that the chip inside the review unit was in fact a 1.5Ghz MT6589T processor! The rest of the hardware is the same as the standard ZP980 including 1GB RAM, 5-inch FHD 1920 x 1080 display, 13 mega-pixel rear camera, 5 mega-pixel front, 2000mAh battery and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
The phone is in fact the same as the white Zopo C2 which we are currently writing up a full review for, but we thought you guy’s would be interested in seeing the Turbo Zopo ZP980 in action.

As we are performing a full review on the Zopo C2 Platinum, which packs the same specifications, we haven’t done the usual full range of camera and video samples for this odd ball phone, however here are a few shots to give you an idea of quality.

Another thing andy,..I think its time to clear the issue about gorilla screen on the zp980,…even zopomobile claims the zp980 does not have gorilla screen,.and i’m yet to see a seller that says it has gorilla screen (maybe i’m wrong)….only the C2 platinum version with 1gb/16gb is claimed to have gorilla screen and it is used to market it heavily,…
I think we deserve to know (confirm) from the official source (zopomobile ?) if the zp980 really has gorilla screen or not…thanks
The last time I looked on the Zopo India site they listed the phone as having Gorilla glass. However the official Zopo store makes no mention of it so I would say not it does not (http://www.zopomobileshop.com/89-zopo-zp980-smartphone.html). The C2 16GB on the other hand does have Gorilla Glass.
According to zopomobileshop, only white Zopo C2 16gb has gorilla glass. Black zopo c2 (4gb and 16gb) and ZP980 (16gb and 32gb) do not have gorilla glass.
Zopo C2 16gb BLACK:

Jiayu seems more robust as you mentioned, at least it doesn’t flex like the Zopo. Andi, how do you compare it to Jiayu G4?
I prefer the JiaYu still, but the specs of the Zopo are pretty amazing
