Another Umeox X5 GizChina exclusive! We have the full specifications of this 5.6mm Android phone along with more high-quality leaked photos!

After plenty of leaked photos and rumours, we finally have the official Umeox X5specification direct from our source at the company!

If you haven’t been keeping up to date with the worlds thinnest phone saga you might have missed that Chinese phone maker Umeox have stolen the thinnest phone title from the Huawei Ascend P6 which was launched just last week. We imagine Huawei bosses a pretty upset about that, but we bet they will be even more so when they learn the 5.6mm Umeox X5 will feature a stock Android 4.2 install! (Huawei are currently evaluating a Google edition P6).

Official Umeox X5 specifications

Going over the specifications of the Umeox X5 we are not really all that surprised by what we see. The engineers behind this super slim phone have had to create a device which performs well while offering good battery life all in the space of 5.6mm!

OLED display

Starting from the outside the Umeox X5 packs a 4-inch OLEDdisplay with a resolution of 640 x 360. An OLED OGS display is made up of films of organic molecules. When passing electricity through the films, the molecules create light without the need of a backlight.

Without the extra bulk of a backlight Umeox have been able to shave millimeters off the thickness of the phone! As an added benefit OLEDdisplay are more energy-efficient while remaining very bright!

Stock Android 4.2 Jelly Bean

‌Huawei might decided to make up their mind a little faster about an Ascend P6 Google Edition once they learn that the X5 will have a stock Android install.

This is going to please a lot of Android purists out there who enjoy Android as Google intended it, not to mention the added performance benefits!

Power efficient processor

Although it would have been nice to see a quad-core processor in the X5, Umeox have opted for a 1Ghz dual-core MT6572 chip. The MT6572 is based on the same power efficient A7, 28nm architecture as the quad-core MT6589 but boasts better battery life.

The MT6572 supports Rel. 8 HSPA+/TD-SCDMA, 3D graphics and 720p video playback.

The rest of the Umeox X5 Specification

The X5 will come with either 512mb or 1GB RAM, 4GB of built-in memory, support for a 32GB SD card and dual 5 mega-pixel cameras (front and rear). The phone will be a single SIM handset only with a 1400mAh battery (hence the OLEDdisplay and low power CPU) and measure just 120 x 60 x 5.6mm.

The Umeox X5 should launch quite soon in both China and Europe and supports the following network bands:GSM 850/900/1800/1900mhz, WCDMA 820 or 2100Mhz

There is no firm launch date just yet and we are still not sure about pricing, but we’ll be sure to be the first to let you as soon as possible.

Lol although its an oled display but with the resolution and soc I don’t think getting this phone would even be practical as the main selling point would only be the thinness and if the price is cheap ( unlikely)

  The battery size is in the article, 1400mAh. Doesn’t appear to be removable. The phone looks sweet but what might bother some is the lack of LED flash. I think I have mine constantly off so wouldn’t bother me.

I like the basic idea behind this phone but I kind of do want a dual sim version. Might get this one though if the price is right ( $100 max ).
With this kind of hardware it’s not worth too much and while I do like the fact that it’s thin there’s only so much I’m willing to pay for that feature.

  I wouldn’t call it underpowered… It has 4-8 times less pixels to draw yet it’s only twice less powerfull, since it will run stock I *bet* it would be smoother than most Chinese phones. Actually
  the specs are quite impressive considering how tiny it is, the only real issue I see is with the 1400mah battery but I guess given -again- how lightweight it is on the hardware side it will suffice for a full day.
  If it’s cheap enough I’d prefer it over other phones….

    Maybe if you talk about it two or one year ago, which is like an eternity in the fast evolving tech world, nowadays it IS underpowered.
    Actually that miserable pixel/screen size ratio is dinosaur even for years already.

If anything a 1080p phone that uses MT6589 chip *is* underpowered (*slower* than this phone) yet most of you people here are writing raving reviews for them. So since this is an actually faster phone (under the circumstances) imagine how smoother it will be.
      Yes the pixel ratio/ screen size, is an understandable problem to many (and that I can understand), but the phone’s power *isn’t*… it’s admirable how much they put into that little space…

        There is nothing to defend really. Reality is out there really, I don’t care to change your opinion, merely not to let others to be infected by yours. Enough with the bricks of the phones. Everybody hated them 10 years ago, and now they tell you you should like them and everybody likes them, but they’re still bricks, uncomfortable to use and plain shitty to look at.
        It’s refreshing to see someone going to the opposite direction without overprizing it (Apple), or making it unbalanced (pretty much everyone putting 1080p resolutions in tiny screens where pixels are so close togethers that extra crispness only costs in size, battery life and performance)…
        I don’t understand what you gain by dishing that admirable move (low res, small size), but I have to stop you, hoping more people will buy such phones and hopefully we’d have better offers (in those sizes) in the future as well because of it…

I think this must be a design exercise from UMEOX JUST FOR GETTING SOME PRESS SPACE…LOTS OF “THINNEST PHONES” of past have failed to sell..like this one will. Test of design is useability in real world.

  Have you read nothing of what I wrote above. The phone is actually a Galaxy S2 clone in power (same GPU, equivalent CPU, same Ram amount), only it will run a more lightwieght OS (stock) and resolution (360p instead of 480p), so it will be quite faster than S2 and almost as fast/smooth as galaxy S3.
  I don’t know what planet you’re from, but that’s not “light in power” in mine and to top it of they managed to put that in such a tiny package. I find this a lot more impressive than creating progressively bigger phones which would actually perform the same in the end…

The phone looks like it’s made of great material, highly doubt if the phone will be available under 200 USD. However, it did the job of bringing Umeox in the limelight, now they can make phones which will actually sell.

Compared to ascend P6 this is horrible.. Ascend has a quad core 1.5Ghz processor and 720p screen vs…. oh well, I still think Ascend Is doing a much greater job as they somehow managed to fit now day specs and screen into a 6.1mm 4.7 inch screen body.

It’s basically 1/4th smaller as a device and has half the resolution. *That* may be a problem to many (the low res), but since it’s amoled (excellent colour reproduction and angles) it can be forgiven. But what it really means is that is need 1/4th (!!!) of the firepower to run *as* well, since it’s only 1/2nd of that it would actually be *faster* than most/any quad cores out there. It would be crazy fast running a dual core at 360p *and* (as a bonus) the device is crazy small.
  What’s wrong with you people?, Wanting more of the same, we have 1 million gargantuan phones out there, each more uncomfortable than then next, then something actually useful is being released and you dish it? Your priorities are inversed….
