2013 continues to be a bumper year for Chinese phones, even half way in to the year there are still some awesome handsets to come! Here are our 5 most anticipated Chinese phones for Summer 2013.
The first half of 2013 had us excited about quad-core MT6589 phones such as the iOcean X7, JiaYu G4 and UMi X2, but Chinese phone development is moving at an amazing pace and we already have MT6589T phones on sale, and new flagship device to look forward to!
Top 5 most anticipated Chinese phones: Summer 2013
Neo N003
Although we, like many of you, believe Neo have missed the boat with the Neo N003, we are still excited to see this phone and find out if the delays, missed launch dates and last minute updates have all been worth it!
The Neo N003 will be available on limited sale this week, but it won’t be until August when most of us will be able to get our hands on one.
Why are we looking forward to the N003?
The Neo N003 is one of the few Chinese Mediatek phones which packs pretty much every feature we could want in to a single device from an updated MT6589T processor, 2GB RAM and 1080display to a 13 mega-pixel camera, tempered glass display and MHL and OTG support!
Xiaomi Mi3
August 16th is the date Xiaomi are rumoured to be launching the Xiaomi Mi3. The new flagship Xiaomi phone has quite an act to follow and some mean competition from the likes of Oppo, ZTE and others but we think they will rise to the occasion.
Why are we looking forward to the Xiaomi Mi3?
From early leaked reports the Mi3 looks to be Xiaomi’s first ever 1080 phone. It is rumoured to sport a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 display, 2GB RAM, Snapdragon 800 CPU, 13 mega-pixel rear camera and 3800mAh battery.
The Xiaomi Mi3 is expected to be the first Xiaomi device to ship with headphones and with an updated amplifier and stereo sound. All of this and Xiaomi’s traditional 1999 yuan price tag make this phone worth waiting for!
Xiaomi Red Rice
We’ve looked at the top of the range Xiaomi now let’s look at the opposite end of the spectrum. The Xiaomi Red Rice has been seen a number of times, and finally a launch date seems to be around the corner.
Gizchina News of the week
Why are we looking forward to the Xiaomi Red Rice?
The Red Rice will be the most affordable Xiaomi phone to date. At a price of 999 Yuan it will cost the same as phones from smaller Chinese brands and could really upset the Chinese phone market and drive domestic phone prices lower than we have ever seen before!
Specifications are good to with a 4.7-inch 720p display, 1.5Ghz quad-core MT6589T processor, 1GB RAM and 8 mega-pixel rear camera!
Xiaocai X9
Xiaocai are a tiny company compared to the others on the list, but the 1099 Yuan X9 has the potential to really make waves IF the purported specifications turn out to be true that is! 2 versions of the Xiaocai X9 are in the planning stages, both of which look great value for money, but it’s the top of the range model which excites us most!
Why are we looking forward to the Xiaocai X9?
The flagship X9 is rumoured to be a 4.5-inch 1920 x 1080 phone which will cost only 1099 Yuan! if that wasn’t enough the phone also offers a 1.5Ghz MT6589T processor, 2GB RAM and attractive design available in bright colours!
Oppo Find 7
We’re not entirely sure when we will see the Oppo Find 7, but already rumours and (likely fake) specifications have already hit headlines. Like the Xiaomi Mi3 the Find 7 has a touch act to follow as many reviewers regard the current Find 5 one of the best phones launched this year!
Why are we excited about the Oppo Find 7?
Of course we are excited to see the new design and faster hardware the Find 7 will most likely ship with, but what intrigues us the most is if Oppo can keep momentum going after the Find 5!? The company have had a name for themselves in China for some time but its only the past 6 months international interest in the firm has grown. A solid Find 7 launch will help Oppo find their place on the international scene but a flop could send them packing!
What are your more anticipated Chinese phones for 2013?
There are obviously a lot more Chinese phones which we are excited about such as the Meizu MX3, JiaYu S1 and Lenovo X910, what phones are you look forward to in the second half of 2013? Let us know in the comments section below.
“Xiaomi’s traditional 1999 yuan price tag make this phone worth waiting for!”
I wonder what international price will be? 370$ maybe?
If i was to spend 500++ USD for a phone from china where in fact i don’t have warranty (cause having to send phone back to china in case problems is rather not a useful warranty), i would spend more money and buy galaxy note III or something.
Buying phone in china for european customers is only worth when they are much cheaper than smartphones offered on european market
I think you miss out on loads of tech-savy users who do not want to walk around with a mainstream phone.
Buying any phone abroad has its implications. In the end its just a matter of personal choice.
The Neo’s launch date got bumped again from the 25th July to the 1st of August – and only releasing the damned Youth / Lite model at that. The Ultimate edition will be “late August” apparently.. 🙁
Damn Neo, you are behaving like Jiayu, playing bad boy. What will happen until end of August? You are loosing aganist time. 8-cores will start to show up until then and nobody will want to buy 4-cores.
You comment doesnt make sense, there will be A LOT of people who are still willing to buy dual and quad core phones. People like me.
Give me a good reason for a octa core soc in your mobile phone?
You may say so right now, but when times comes you will follow mainstream too. Remember once Gates told “640K ought to be enough for anybody”.
“Give me a good reason for a octa core soc in your mobile phone?” I just like power that’s it.
Youre not giving an enough reason to buy an octa-core. You want power for the sake of it? It’s your decission, most people don’t. I also would buy a nice dual core for mobile daily tasks, it is utterly unnecessary to waste money for a mobile you do not need. When i wanted to play crysis on a mobile i will spend money for a snapdragon 800 or Tegra 4, till then, i prefer an ultra power saving dual core cpu which allows me to use a mobile for 2 or 3 days, alongside with a 3000 or 4000mah battery.
Its funny because you mention battery life. The battery life increases with more proccessors. (think of it like humans that want to push a big rock , 1 human could make it but will use all of his strength, 2 humans will use 1/2 of their strength, 3 humans 1/3 and so on…
Nobitakun, I see your point. I am currently happy with a 4.5″ dual-core phone.
And I have an uncle who is perfectly happy with his ancient Nokia.
But technology will march on to greater heights. Soon to follow more powerful phones would be more sophisticated apps that make use of the increased power.
Such has been the trend ever since IBM XT and MS DOS came to the market decades ago.
spyros s funny answer
power is always battery (human)
for the rock quad core .you need 4 battery to push the rock. no matter
previously we had 800mah and so,now increased up to 5000 mah
why bcas cores increased.
catch my point ??
Definitely the Find 7. I’ve always had a thing for their styling.
