6mm JiaYu S2 specifications reveal 8-core MT6592 processor and 5-inch FHD display

JiaYu’s upcoming S range of phones has already spawned the 8-core JiaYu S2 even before the launch of the previously announced JiaYu S1!

We’re not entirely sure what is happening over at JiaYu, but as usual developments are slow, strange and optimistic all at the same time! At the start of the year JiaYu showed off the G4 (which is now on sale in all variants), the G5 (seen recently here) and the Snapdragon powered S1. Well the JiaYu S1 hasn’t launched yet but already the JiaYu S2 is being discussed!

From the leaked promotional image shown above the JiaYu S2 will come with a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 FHDdisplay and Mediatek’s 8-coreMT6592processor all neatly tucked up inside a 6mm thin metal body. The dimensions of the JiaYu S2 are stated as 139 67.5 x 6mm suggesting the bezels around the 5-inch display could be as narrow as 1.7mm.

Development of the phone has already begun and the Chinese phone maker have already applied successfully for a patent for this narrow border, ultra-slim phone.

As with previous JiaYu launches we don’t hold much hope that the S2 will launch anytime soon, however it does appear that JiaYu S1 details are being finalised and we can hope to see the Jiayu’s first Snapdragon powered phone on sale in the next few months!

JiaYu S2? No f..king way, not again… We saw, what happened with G4 🙂
p.s. I see no practical point, why anyone should ever want 8-core processor in a smartphone (sounds almost like Bill Gates famous speech about 640kB..). In 8″ tablet – may be.
p.s. By the way, have you heard something about “TeamGe Super8″?
It seems to be the best 8″ tablet we’ve seen so far (FullHD, big.LITTLE pseudo-8-core, unfortunately not 4:3, phone calls). Looks like S.G.Note 8” hi-dpi twin.

umm I am launching a company tomorrow and I have 10 models in the works, I think I might be able to get all of them to customers hands before Jiayu can give a launch date for this phone. 🙂

I can’t read enough Chinese to tell — it looks like that list of attributes and numbers has a “yuan” character next to each number. Could this phone sell for 805 yuan —the last number?!

  Come on dude… why would a patent application contains the selling price? I think it’s just the application costs.

I love my G4 but if this has OTG that works, 2gb/32 Gb, 64 gb TF, 5″ screen, movie capture that doesnt continually refocus, a better camera that doesnt over expose, decent battery life and a GPS that actually works in my car and 8core MTK 6592 giving a antutu score over 20,000 and is only 6mm thick and is as well built as my G4 then its on my Xmas list (provided I can convince the wife that she needs my G4! LOL)..the question is xmas 2013 or 2014 and less that 250$!

    This is Jiayu! They will probably launch the S3 first (not yet leaked, just using my imagination but probably looks a bit Galaxy-ish, b4 everyone wants to know what it is)

        Yes very happy, its well built, looks good, the display size is just right for me, android runs well. The only niggles are the weak GPS in the car and the autofocus on video (which I think will be corrected by firmware update eventually and I could probably override via the settings if I could be bothered). Suspect that the black bezel may chip in time although mine lives in a very neat leather case which protects it from keys,coins etc in my pocket and looks snazzy. Ive bought a bluetooth GPS receiver on Ebay for £10 (that was recommended on here) so that should resolve the car problem but will introduce and extra wire. Probably would choose the thin basic model if i was buying now but only because it may be a bit lighter in the pocket and i am quite happy to park it on its cradle every night..getting two / three days use out of my 3000mAh one. Its not over heavy but you know its there. feels very solid in use.

        True but I like the advanced model and they don’t have version with the small battery… Have you try a Lewa ROM? I have a G2S and is far better than official.

Is the new 8-core very efficient? Else I don’t see the phone being usefull, it’s impossible to fit a decent battery size in the 6mm body.

1080p, 8 cores which is active all the time on a 6mm thin body? Yeah I think they aim for wow factor here instead of practicality. The thing will be lucky to last even 1/4 of a day.

  This is probably the thin version of it. They should have a larger battery version too.
  Given that the first MT6592 phone should be launched by the beginning of next year I expect this Jiayu one to be available by this time next year.

  It might have a 2000mAh battery. Don’t forget that while it is thin it is a 5inch phone so they could squeeze a larger battery in there. Probably going to be not user replaceable though.

G4 has way too many problems to even consider it a worthwile product. Just some of the many problems: touchscreen defects, gps is useless for navigation, metal bezel painting peeling off, problems with charging/chargers/battery display, and the list could go on and on.
What looks amazing on paper, fails hard in reality. They either have no quality control at the factory whatsoever, or using B grade faulty components in their phones. Also, their software department is quite…. unskilled.

    Please check russian forum 4pda.ru, there is a jiayu g4 thread there with over 120 pages of posts. There are youtube videos of these stuff, etc.

      I have a G4 for a month now. Apart from bezel painting peeling off everything else is either mostly or completely fixed. It’s the first phone i own that has been so effortless and who should think that it will come from a Chinese company. Being an early adopter has risks, being a Jiayu user less so… Most Samsung phones come with more problems in the first few months… Best $250 ever spent..-

        Consider yourself lucky. Most of the problems i mentioned before only happens on some devices. It’s like they’re doing test runs, and sell every batch as-is, tweaking the manufacturing process inbetween. However it’s too widespread to consider these problems random. If they are not sure about the manufacturing process / component quality, then they should just test every device. As it is now, there are way too many G4s with defects.
        Also it’s hilarious they can’t get gps right. It’s useful for locating your position, more or less, but it’s totally incapable of navigation. It’s accuracy is very bad, and the thing lags behind sometimes 4-5sec, overshoots your position etc. Exactly the same, as my G3. If lenovo can get it right with the same chipset, why do jiayu always fail ? My $65 zte blade does a much much better job at navigation. I would expect more from a ~$240 phone.

        Since I got the G2S I have see one more and 3 G4 and no problems so far all is very happy with the phones. The GPS working good only at G4 …

At that size its gonna be very “handable” (new word)
Hopefully at leas a 2000mAh battery and slowest of the 8 core SOC so that it does better than todays phones endurance.
Non replaceable is also a NO – NO. one has to be able to do hard reset from time to time…

why jiayu is not supporting 850mhz for 3g/wcma band? when almost other chinese brand do it?

Update: Jiayu confirms the S2, with the eight core processor. It looks awesome – but for the non-removable 1750MaH battery. Best news thoughL $300 USD and released in quarter four THIS year.
