To Soon? Alleged Xiaomi Red Rice 2 details surface

The Xiaomi Red Rice is just days old but that hasn’t prevented eager tipsters from talking about the 2nd generation Xiaomi Red Rice 2.

Take these details with a large pinch of salt but according to Sina Weibo users the Xiaomi Red Rice two is expected to launch early October and will come with a much larger 5.5-inch display.

Gizchina News of the week

An October launch seems a little optimistic to us, but with the recent movements from Xiaomi we wouldn’t be all that surprised to see more Mediatek equiped phones from Beijing based phone company in the near future.

These Chinese super phones have amazing specs and displays (and price obviously), and also good reviews, but no 4G.

Can anybody tell me what’s the state of the 4G connections in China? I know it probably won’t be as widespread as in the States or Canada, but does any of the carriers provide it at all?

Before you start talking about LTE and the mess of worldwide used bands/frequencies, you would first want the Chinese phone manufacturers to finally support the five bands/frequencies needed for proper worldwide 3G (UMTS/W-CDMA/HSPA+) interoperability.
Support for global LTE is a whole different animal, where some 20+ bands are required at the least!
