Meizu have been soldiering on for quite some time and are prepared to make drastic changes to the company to ensure they can compete.
Since the launch of Xiaomi and the amazing growth they have enjoyed, Meizu have seen a large decline in sales and interest! One of their issues is their high prices (when compared to Xiaomi) and this is something with CEOBai Yongxiang hopes to address in the coming months.
Gizchina News of the week
In fact changes are already a foot! For the majority of this year Meizu have been using Foxconn to produce MX2 phones rather than their own production line. This will eventually lead to the MX3 being entirely manufactured by Foxconn in Langfang and the closure of the Meizu assembly line! Closures won’t end there either as they also plan to close some, possibly all, physical stores across China!
So what does that mean for Meizu fans? Well it is actually good news as the rejigging of the company could actually mean the MX3 could be reduced to just 1999 Yuan ($320), and will also free up more money for the company to develop the Flyme ROM further and new devices!
This isn’t the end of Meizu by a long shot but it could be the push they have needed to really get back on track!
