They probably had some issues with the translation, but I agree, it doesn’t make sense.
The other problem with that phone is that the photos seem to be manipulated, enlarged in paint or something without keeping proportions, some are looking good (like the four squares in the article) but some are hideous (like the title graphics).
Also the screen is not Full HD, only 720p…

I actually think its kind of funny and whimsical. It’s kind of like an internet meme. How can someone not laugh when they look at the back of the phone? It makes no sense so much that’s its hilarious. I like it.
It also kind of makes you think “They must be running a really lean company over there to pass the savings onto the consumers. They don’t even waste money on western consultants or translators”
I’m probably gonna buy it and check it out, POMP stuff looks pretty legit. The price is a little high still tho, you can get the VOVO X2 for around $230.
On the POMP store, its not really clear what the shipping cost is gonna be, that’s cutting their sales. And I think this would move better at a nice even $249.99. If I could find a way to get this in my store on the shelf at 249.99, these would fly off.
The site lists it as a 1.2Ghz processor – is the stock 1.5Ghz?
I checked that and the camera, their page specs are wrong the specs we have posted are correct.
Yeah, and the 1.2 GHz version doesn’t have support for 2gig RAM, so it should be 1.5 GHz

Apparently there’s a Pomp w99a model which has a 1.2gz processor instead of a 1.5. Also has less ram and rom. It’s cheaper too at around $180-200.

Don’t listen to the haters Frank, the originality of it has its funny side. People need to be reminded to be a little more fun and light hearted with life.
The reason why it is so ironic and funny is this. It says “contracted”, but the phone is actually not under contract, it is an unlocked, owned phone. And the “not simple” is funny because no company in the US would ever say that. It has a negative connotation, because over here companies are always trying to make devices more and more simple. So the “soccer moms” can figure out how to use them.
The POMP phone is probably no more simple or complex than any other Android based phone tho, so its like a non sequitur to say “not simple”

After the scare I think was just an example of how to buy the phone I have added my name to the process and have brought and paid for the Pomp W99. So far I am impressed with the overall service and communication from the Company. Will let you all know my thoughts when I test drive this phone. I am hoping for a changed attitude. Brought on the August 25th departed Beijing 30th still not arrived September 5th. Well that’s what happens when you use the flat rate service. I have had better results than this before from other items I have brought.

I have had good results from dealing with Chinese companies before and always had good transportation here. But this time its a little boring.
My only bad experience was with Grefu or their shippers ordered 8 items 2 arrived with 6 empty boxes. Lucky at the time I was able to use Paypal now they have discontinued with them and I got money money back. I felt sorry for them but they tried to say that I had removed the items as I didn’t return the box before I opened it. WTF!! How do you know things are not there if you don’t open the box. But I am up beat and looking forward to reviewing this phone.I always like to support the little people if they support me. š
My Pomp W99 arrived this afternoon at the post office taking 15 days from placing the order. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of protection in the packing the company had done for this journey. The main box had been rapped in bubble rap with support packing top and bottom so it was totally encased. The Outer box completely encased in packaging tape so if there had been any attempt to tamper would have been very noticeable. I will be sending through an unboxing to Andi later today hopefully it will get printed.

I have only taken a few pix with the phone at this time. I am going to the Gold Coast on Sunday so I will do extensive shots then for you. will need to get Andi to upload as there doesn’t seem to be anyway to do this on this site. i have writtten a review but it still is awaiting the ok. I can tell you that the camera is an 8m and not the 13M they stated also the battery I received was only a 1750MaH and not a 2000MaH but the battery life so far has been quite reasonable. The phone is well finished and seems to handle all I have tried without any screen lag. Hope that helps.

I was really looking froward to a positive review but with the little idiosyncrasies its not as good as I would have hoped. Also have not heard any feedback from the manufacturer about what I have said in my review. This to me says that we have been caught out and don’t know how to fix it. Well what we just talk and fix the problems. Its that easy don’t hide come out and work with the consumer. Hope that helps.
