TCL Idol X successor will be the nearly borderless TCL N3!

TCL are working on a new flagship phone to replace the successful TCL Idol X, what they have come up with is the very stunning TCL N3.

Replacing the TCL Idol X is a tall order. It is by far one of the prettiest Chinese phones on the market, and it packs a cracking specification to boot (1080 display, 2GB RAM , MT6589T processor), but what TCL’s boffins have come up with looks like a worthy successor.

Gizchina News of the week

Named the TCL N3 and seen here in these official renders the phone has been designed to have the minimum amount of screen bezel possible, meaning they phone can feature a larger 5.7-inch display without increasing the overall footprint of the phone too much.

The rest of the details remain a mystery. Will it feature an 8-core MT6592 processor or one of the new 4G LTE Mediatek chips? How large is the battery and how much RAM will it have? Come on TCL we want to know.

Narrow bezels are seen in many renders. I hope this will end up really looking like this

right. thanks for reminding. it looks like the early renders of the xiaomi mi3, which looked borderless and caught my attention. now i know xiaomi are nowhere to release a borderless phone anytime soon

Awesome phone. I’m skeptical that they can get it that thin tho. It doesn’t look any thicker than 6mm from that rendering. Great job on the bezels. This is where devices need to go. Mi3 has a pretty thin bezel too. No reason to not maximize that real estate.

I’m pleased with the progress I’m seeing now from China. Bezels need to be eliminated and phones need to be thinner, and they know the game plan. The days of high profit margins on phones died about when Steve Jobs did. By the time the Galaxy S5 comes out, it will probably be the only Galaxy selling. They are still trying to push the S2 for like $350 on tmobile. For $350, what do you think people want? An outdated S2? Or a Xiaomi Mi3?

The phone war is officially underway. May the best phones win!

Nooooo! Why the S4 look? Why TCL! be original with your flagship damn it

    • August 24, 2013

you really think , that putting a mid home-key like in iphones in a bezel, like samsung did, makes the phone s4 look instantly? it looks like a god of phone market on those renders, not “s4 look”

It has the same home button placement and shape as a galaxy s2. You want to tell me that design doesn’t remind you of a Samsung in the least?I mean just look at it! Not creative at all.

The prototype looks nice. I hope they don’t suffer overheat issues with being too thin.
