GizChina.it have been lucky enough to get their hands on an iOceanX7 Elite for review. Here is the unboxing and initial fist impressions of this 1080 Chinese phone.
The original quad-core 1080 iOcean phone was one of the first Mediatek handset with a 1920 x 1080 display to go on sale in China and internationally. Since the launch earler this year, a number of variants have hit the market but we are excited to get our hands on the flagship iOceanX7 Elite model.
Below is not a full review of the phone but just a short introduction, video hands on and a few benchmarks to give you and idea of the phones performance. A full review will be posted in the coming weeks.
iOcean X7 Elite – First Impressions
Firstly we were happy to see that the iOceanX7 Elite had been pre-rooted before being shipped to us (thanks to iOcean .it for that!) this makes setting the phone up just as we like it all that much faster.
Once in your hands the X7 is remarkably lightweight considering it offers a full 5-inch 1080 display. The phone ways in at 126g and measures 141 x 68 x 8.9 mm. At this weight and with quite a narrow body the X7 feels great in the hand, and is easy to use just one-handed.
Taking a look around the phone and I was pleasantly surpirsed by the build quality. For a relatively unknown company (until this year) iOcean have done an excellent job of designing, choosing quality materials and manufacturing the X7 Elite.
Quality continues on to with the display which is an OGS (One Glass Solution) panel. This has allowed iOcean to make the most of the interior space of the phone.
iOcean X7 Elite design
If you’re looking at the iOcean and thinking you have seen it somewhere before, well it could be the fact that it looks remarkably like the Oppo Find 5. There are certainly some striking simulatise between the Find 5 and the more affordable X7, but there are enough design differences for the X7 not to be labeled a clone.
Gizchina News of the week
Being compared to the Find 5 is by no means an insult. The iOceanX7 Elite is a stylish and original looking phone. A nice change to the usual Samsung look-a-likes we have become accustom to seeing.
iOcean X7 Elite Specifications
[komper pid=14 compareform=no]The iOceanX7 Elite is the top of the range version of the phone and as you can see from the above table it comes with high-end hardware. Features include a 1.5Ghz quad-core MT6589T processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB memory and 13 mega-pixel rear camera.
A 1.5Ghz quad-core SoC and 2GB RAM is more than enough to offer spirited performance in the iOcean X7, even when it is driving the attractive 1920 x 1080 resolution display! We ran a number of popular benchmark apps on the phone, Antutu scored a very good 14,740 points!
Quadrant results are equally as good with a refresh rate of 51.01Hz.
Software
Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean is running on this sample of the iOceanX7 Elite. The Google Play store is included and as already mentioned it came pre-rooted, but even if this wasn’t the case there are plenty of easy to use tools available to root the phone yourself.
Having the phone rooted allows us to get access to the ROOT of the systems and enables you tweak the phone to run how you like it including even running alternative ROMs.
