The guys over at JiaYu have taken some time out of their busy schedule to take about the stainless steel JiaYu G5 and give us a sneak peak on the inside.
We had some hands on time with the JiaYu G5 last week and were impressed by the stainless steel construction and overall high level of quality and manufacture. In this tear down we will get so see the tear down in more detail.
We haven’t posted all the photos of the G5 disassembly, so for those of you wanting to see the whole thing head over the JiaYu forums here.
JiaYu G5 teardown
As we showed last week, the rear panel on the G5 is stainless steel and is removed via a neat steel switch in the side of the phone. The teardown which we are seeing here was performed on a previously never before seen black G5.
Removing the rear reveals the battery, dual SIM and micro SD card reader.
Next the battery is removed along with the black plastic panels from the upper and lower portions of the G5’s stainless steel body.
Screws from either side of the battery compartment need to be removed for the next part.
Gizchina News of the week
Once the screws are removed the battery compartment and camera module fame lifts out.
We are left with the main chassis which houses the micro USB, pain PCB and cameras.
The main PCB is where everything other than antennas are mounted. We can see the main rear camera, dual SIM, battery connector and Micro SD card slot.
With the PCB out of the way we can see the backside of the 4.5-inch 1280 x 720 display.
The screen of the JiaYu G5 i very similar in shape to the iPhone 5 and is glued to the main glass front panel. You can see from this photo that the G5 has no physical home button.
That’s the JiaYu G5 fully stripped down. The process doesn’t look all that difficult and could mean certain repairs could be carried out at home (if you were feeling brave).
JiaYu hope to begin shipping the JiaYu G5 before the end of the month, but we think mid to late October is more likely.
