Thin bezels and big screens are what we want to see from Chinese phone makers and TCL seem to have the mix just right with the new 6-inch TCL N3.
The TCL N3, and its Alcatel One Touch variant, is another design win by the Shenzhen based phone maker. On paper it all looks good including a 6-inch 1080 display, quad-core cPU, 2GB RAM, 13 mega-pixel camera, NFC, wireless charging and active LED covers, and in your hand it should feel great thanks to the super narrow screen bezels.
TCL have really gone to town with the design of the N3, trimming down the overall length and width of unwanted millimetres to bring us a phone has a large display but small footprint. We don’t know the full dimensions just yet but we do know it measures less than 9mm thick and the screen of the phone takes up 83.4% of the front!
Any idea when this will be launched and how much will it cost?
Great to see this trend starting in China. All we need is to convince the powers at be to include these designs in Tablets. Lets keep up the pressure folks. Looking good.
nice design!
Looking at their portfolio, this is probably true unlike other chinese manufacturer and their claim about bezel.
83.4% of the front? What is that supposed to tell me? 16.6% of the front is not the screen?
Marketing…gotta love it.
what it means is that 83.4% is the Display, where the rest is bezel and buttons etc etc lol
Calm down son.
It means that 83.4% of the front is the actual display, where the rest is taken up by the Bezel and Buttons etc etc.
Calm down son 😛
I’m perfectly calm, and you’re missing the subtle sarcasm. So tell me about the dimensions, tell me about the bezels? Yeah, that’s right, you can’t because “83.4% of the front” means absolutely nothing beyond marketing doublespeak. Apparently it’s news, though.
If 16:9 6″ screen is 83.4% then 100% is…
Basic math.
If 83.4% is taken by the display, then 16.6% of it is the bezel and buttons. It’s a pretty similar number to the LG G2. It’s like what Anony says. Basic math.
Finally they decided to ape the LG G2, Cannot wait.
Yes, exactly what it says. Basic math.
Can I assume they take the diagonal measurement of the screen divide by the original diagonal of the phone & multiply by 100?
If this is the case, my screen is 85.30%.
So their 83.4% boast is nothing to look at really.
