UMi launching updated UMi X2S with 8-core CPU and NFC!

Most of us are concentrating on the UMi Cross launch, however there will also be an updated UMi X2S going on sale soon with new processor and added feature.

UMi’s 6.4-inch Cross phablet will be joined by an updated version of the 5-inch UMi X2. Named the UMi X2S, the handset features the same body design as the current X2 but features the more powerful 8-core Mediatek MT6592 chipset and built-in support for NFC!

Gizchina News of the week

The UMi X2S made a brief appearance earlier this week at an electronics show in Hong Kong where these photos were taken. Other details include a redesigned home button which is now a Meizu styled halo, 2GB RAM, 32GB memory, and 13 mega-pixel rear camera.

I would much prefer a 5 inch or smaller than the cumbersomely large 6 inch+ phones. Looking forward to more of these coming out!

An Octa Core phone isn’t really needed, but if these phones have 4g that works in the USA I’d purchase them since these are unlocked and contract free. If no 4g is included then I’ll settle for Quad Core phones since those are fast enough, and the prices will be dropped once these octa core phones release, so I say release as many as possible.

Mediatek MT6592 chipset: will it give a good GPS support in Western-Europe?Has the new UMI phone a good GPS antenna?
What will be the final speed?
Think this is more important than the 8 cores.

The chipset isn’t the issue, it is the antenna that phone companies use. The antenna in the Cross will be a 3D printed type allowing for more surface area, no mention of this on the X2S.

well I am saying this to you cause you are the one who are in touch or in contact with UMI china. Please update them that there are plenty in india waiting for the order and have made full payment. Well I dont blame anyone or You but the specs and the article mentioned here regarding UMI made me buy the Phone or maybe book it. I know the Phone is good but its not in our hands yet. Just need your little help.

No. Just no. It’s not UMi’s fault, it’s Androidguruz.

    • October 16, 2013

UMi China chose Android Guruz to be their distributor in India earlier this year. These are the people you have an issue with, not UMi. UMi know all about the problems Indian customers have had and have actually stopped working with Androidguruz, unfortunately it has also scared them away from the Indian market too as I don’t believe a new distributor has been lined up 🙁

    Hi All,
Some websites have said that the battery for this UMI X2 Cross will support 4800mha, but what I see is that chinese pages are selling it with a 4180mah battery.
Anyone knows that is going on here with the battery?
I guess everyone, including us, are misplacing UMI X2, UMI Cross, and finally UMI X2 Cross
