Full HDsmartphonescreens will soon be a thing of the past, with more than one manufacturer working on higher-res displays. The latest to join the party is Japan Display, after unveiling displays with a 2,560 x 1,440 resolution.
The company has come up with 2 panels measuring 6.2 inches and 5.4 inches respectively, both offering the same resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. Whether or not these panels qualify as ‘Quad HD’ or 4K is a matter of debate (we’ll leave it to the gurus), but we’re more interested in what the displays have on offer – the 5.4 inch panel packs a pixel density of 543.9 PPI which is way beyond the current best. On the other hand, the 6.2 inch panel does a respectable 473.7 PPI.
Gizchina News of the week
While we know that Vivo is working on a phone with a 2560 x 1440 resolution, it will be interesting to know which companies will be fitting these on their smartphones, however, no takers have been revealed yet. The display manufacturer has been in the news of late, with their WhiteMagic series of displays grabbing headlines.
