Whether or not the world is ready for 2K phones screens or not is up for debate, but there is no argument what we are in need of are some large display phones with narrow, easy to handle designs, and the Vivo Xplay 3S could be one of them!
The trend of phone makers to design phones with larger and larger displays is not subsiding, but at least some manufacturers are taking baby steps to achieve something truly great rather than diving in head first!
Earlier this year Vivo launched the 5.5-inch Xplay, at the time it was one of the largest phones on the market, yet the team behind the design had managed to make it thin, stylish and useable. For the end of the year we are going to be treated to the launch of the Vivo Xplay 3S with a purported 5.7-inch 2560 x 1440 resolution display, with hopefully the same degree of ergonomic design!
Gizchina News of the week
If the Xplay 3S does launch with a 5.7-inch 2560 x 1440 display (something which Oppo should have considered on the N1) this would bring the pixel density in at an amazing 515ppi, offering uber clear, rich details!
Vivo should shave the Xplay 3S ready to launch before the end of the year, but packed with the high res display, a possible rotating camera, LTE and snapdragon 800 processor it isn’t going to be the most affordable of Chinese phones!

I feel I will repeat this post that was a reply to a thread to Chinese Phones using SD 800
Hi all
Whilst I have very high regards for the Xplay and its successor. I do not recommend it to any International customers because it is such a chinese centric device with nearly no official or semi official English forum. Unlike Xiaomi, Oppo or even Meizu.
One of the classic problems you will hit is a bug with the firmware which is normal with almost any phone. Xplay had bugs with 3G reception and there were several language related bugs reported if not using it with Simplified Chinese characters. These were addressed with updates posted on their vivo bbs board but all in Chinese. Even if you have it rooted and gapps you will find you must not system update because it will then likely to loose root and google apps should you take the plunge. Most of the Chinese manufacturers who own their little Chinese cloud store all tend to lock playstore out on their China version devices when updating to China version rom.
Unless you are very comfortable with root and techy admin tasks, I suggest you stay away as the forum is all only in Chinese language and with a grey import for 600 USD once it bricks you have had it and bbk won’t want to know about it especially if you are outside China. Frankly bbk know nothing about it. And you will probably be just swearing at how rubbish they are.
I would wait for its sister Oppo F7 to get an international launch instead. Unless bbk suddenly makes an announcement that Vivo Xplay 3s will go international. I look forward to that, if it is LTE enabled, I will love one for sure
The same with all devices that were designed for market targetting only the mainland Chinese market or Chinese versions of a phone like Lenovo K900 or Meizu MX3 China version. For MX3, make sure you get the Hong Kong edition which is the international version else 600 USD is just too much to play around with.
Very wise words Konged. I think when buying a device, it is best to buy a device with plenty of forum support (in a language that you understand), like the brands you mentioned. Maybe there will be a GizRom for Vivo in the future (and also an international forum).
