Cube’s TALK9, a 9 inch tablet powered by a quad core Mediatek processor with 3G and voice calling is now on sale in China, priced just $181 (1099 Yuan)!
The tablet features a 4 core MT8389T, which can be thought of as the tablet equivalent of the hugely popular MT6589T chipset seen on most phones coming out of China these days. The MT8389T is the upgraded version of the MT8389, and it now comes with a more powerful GPU and CPU.
True to its name, the tablet will have a 9 inch screen with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Other specifications include 1GB RAM, 16GB ROM plus microSD slot for further expansion, 5 mega-pixel rear and 2 mega-pixel front cameras, 3G support (WCDMA) with voice calling, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, OTG. Powered by a 5,300mAh battery, the Cube TALK9 will run on Android v4.2 Jelly Bean. All this, inside a metal-clad body measuring 232.6 x 153.5 x 9 mm!
Do you think Chinese tablets like TALK9 stand a chance against other low-cost and dev-friendly tablets like the Nexus 7/10?
Nice tablet but I dont know how the MTK8389T will perform against the RK3199 Quad. I learnt the RK3188 can 18000+ antutu and is quite fluid with Android. BTW, I havent seen the review of the PIPO M9 PRO 3G in here. Can anyone please review it?
Thank you.
I bought a PIPO M9 (without 3G) recently, and I must admit that I was truly impressed by the tablet and its underlying RK3188: it is much more fast, stable and responsive than my others Ainol (Venus 2) or Onda (972) with AllWinner chipsets. They both lag at boot time and randomly (while downloading updates via WiFi for example) whereas the PIPO delivers full speed. I’ve read a lot on forums about that weakness with AllWinner.
Then i’m really interested in any comparison with MTK8389(T).
Exactly the reason why I am reluctant about this Cube Talk 9. Comparing it with the PIPO, PIPO M9 PRO has 2x internal memory … 32GB vs 16GB. 2x RAM … 2GB vs 1GB, But in the Processor and GPU departments, thats where I dont know whats the outcome. I have a strong feeling that RK3188 is faster than MTK8389T (which is basically an MTK 6589T). I have read people complimenting on the RK3188 CPU and Mali 400 MP4 GPU combination. Now we are talking about FHD displays here. Not sure how the MTK will deal with it and definitely, the Mali 400 MP4 can handle better GFX than the PowerVR SGX 544.
Thats my take on this though.
Hi Pa5t1s
sounds like your pleased with the Pipo M9 …whats the build quality like? and where did you buy it from?
I am considering buying a Pipo M6 Pro (as it has the 10,000 mAh battery but it doesnt seem to be much heavier) and I would welcome your thoughts on the M9..perhaps you could do a review OR andi how about comparing a few 9 – 10″ tablets with quad cores , 2gb and 32 gb Android 4.2 and 2/5 Mp cameras there seem to be about 10 reasonable ones in the 200$ – 300$ range!
@BrianJackson
I found the build quality very good. Overall good looking, not cheap. Already rooted and cleaned.
Bought it at Merimobiles.
Otherwise, i’m afraid to be unable to write a review atm: I’m very busy at work, sorry.
Thanks a lot….
Seems like a really nice tablet!
Which stores sell it at that mentioned price of $181?
I’ve only seen it at more than $200 on AliExpress…
$181 is the price in China, and at $200 I think you have a good deal 🙂
