Gionee GN709W goes through network certification, expected to feature 8-core MT6592

We’ve seen an array of leaks and spy pictures of various upcoming 8-core smartphones from a handful of Chinese manufacturers, and the addition of popular manufacturer to this list Gionee doesn’t nearly come across as a surprise!

Here we have a picture of the next-in-line GN709W, a device which is speculated to come with Mediatek’s MT6592 octa-core processor which we are all well-aware of. The GN709W will be the successor to the GN700W and GN708W smartphones which came in earlier this year, sporting a dual-core (MT6577) and quad-core (MT6589) processors respectively.

Purported specifications of the Gionee GN709W include a 5-inch 720p screen, 2,500mAh battery, 13 mega-pixel camera, among others. There is no word on a release date as yet, but we expect Gionee to officially announce the device soon after MediaTek launch the MT6592 this month.
