That the OPPO staff and CyanogenMod team share a good rapport is no secret. However, with the resignation of OPPO’s vice president, things have taken a new, interesting turn!
Just hours after a word going around suggested that OPPO might team up with the 3rd party firmware gurus to give birth to a new brand, it has been learnt that Pete Lau, Vice President of OPPO gave up his post, possibly with the very intention of creating a new brand in conjunction with CyanogenMod (which, if you’re not aware yet, turned into a company a few weeks back). Lau went all guns blazing and wrote on Sina Weibo that they’re working on a ‘perfect Android flagship device that may change the world of Android’. Perfect Android flagship or not, learn how to build some real hype from them, we say!

What’s exciting is that reports suggest that this very device might come with Qualcomm’s MSM8974AC aka the 2.5GHz variant of the Snapdragon 800! Until now, the only other device reported to feature this variant of the Snapdragon 800 is Gionee’s Elife E7 that’s due later this year.
However, it’s not clear if this spin-off company will function completely independent of OPPO or not. BBK (OPPO’s mother company) is known to be running more than a handful brands under its name, and this might just turn out to be another one. However, being the Chinese tech enthusiasts that we are, it shouldn’t concern much!
