The octa-core Mediatek MT6592 is here!


As expected, Taiwan’s Mediatek today unveiled the MT6592, the much awaited, much hyped 8 core processor!

The processor, touted as the world’s first true octa-core solution for the mobile platform, comes with the 8 cores capable of operating at up to 2GHz each. Being based on the 28nm Cortex A7 architecture, the processor is not only expected to be extremely powerful, but power-efficient as well. As suspected earlier, Mediatek have emphasized on the graphics part of the chipset, which now comes with a 4 core Mali 450-MP4 GPU and supports Ultra-HD 4Kx2K H.264 video playback, cameras modules up to 16 mega-pixel, and full HD screens. Like other Mediatek chipsets, the MT6592 too will have an on-board modem for WiFi, GPS and FM.

Devices based on the MT6592 solution have already started showing up, with quite a few other ones lined up for a launch later this month!

    Mali-450MP4 eh? Wonder how it’ll perform. I’ve yet to see an actual smartphone with that processor yet.

    MTK6592 is a Gimmick and a battery eater.
    all android apps use less then 4 core, so FUCKING 8 core?!?
