Update: The OrientPhone One MAX is a 5″ HTC One/One Max lookalike that costs just $275!

Here’s some good news for people who are fans of classy HTC designs but do not wish to shell out the premium HTC ask for one; the OrientPhone One MAX!

The device is essentially an HTC One lookalike, albeit in a 5″ form, but with the same 1920 x 1080 FHD resolution. Powered by a quad-core MT6589T running at 1.5GHz, the device is not only a decent lookalike but it also packs a punch on the processing segment. Other specifications of the device include 2GB of RAM, 32GB of ROM plus microSD slot, a 13 mega-pixel camera at the rear, 8 mega-pixel on the front, 2,800mAh battery, and support for OTG as well as MHL.

The phone comes in two colors, namely Silver and Black. Priced $275.48, the OrientPhone One MAX can be bought via OrientDeal.com.

Is it just me? Maybe it’s because I’m no longer a teenager? Which, by the way was a long time ago. But, just as the Chinese manufacturers were seeming confident enough to launch original and compelling designs, they’ve suddenly lost confidence and gone back to rip-off lookalikies. What a shame! When there are so many companies producing phones with a very similar technical content, it surely makes it fundamentally important for the phones to have a good and stand-apart design which makes them an attractive buy?

What I also meant to write is this… why do manufacturers expect people to flaunt their lookalike phones? I’d be embarrassed to pass any rip-off copy phone around my friends because it would just advertise that I couldn’t afford the real thing. But give me a good, original design, nevermind the technical specs, and I’d be happy to explain its virtues. The two phones which spring to mind in terms of compelling design are the recent FAEA phones and the Carpad T6S. They exude confidence!

I agree with you, even I love seeing Chinese companies come up with unique designs of their own (which, most times are better than any other). However, the fact that there still is a massive market for such devices cannot be overlooked.

All that Carpad T6S exude is a unique design of Huawei Ascend P6.

only a very “asian” thing to be so much concerned about what other people think, all choices based on perception of others. what an insecure way to live. others that determine value based on inherent quality of a thing, perhaps makes the choice based on what hardware, what software, and at what cost? now, when I was a teenager, still just a child, I was very concerned about what others thought and would spend every last penny I saved up just to buy a “real” Polo or Nautica shirt or jacket just to learn when I grew up that usually same materials and same craftsmanship as most other but has “Polo” label slapped on it… Thank god I grew up.
