Mediatek’s latest quad-coreMT6582processor promised to bring high-end performance to entry-level prices, but we never expected to see a $100 smartphone with scoring 17,000 on Antutu so soon!
We’ve tried out a number of phones using the new 1.3Ghz quad-coreMT6582 chipset namely the Zopo ZP820 and ZP700, and were shocked by the amazing Antutu benchmarks offered by such an affordable device! But that was last week, this week prices have dropped further which performance and remained!
Orientdeal describe their Orientphone W450 as the “Most Economic Quad Core Phone” well at $104.21 (that’s international price) they certainly have the right price, but what about hardware?
The distinct Xiaomi Mi2S body is paired up with a 5.4-inch 400 x 854 display, there is a 2 mega-pixel front camera and 8 mega-pixel rear, SD card slot for 32GB cards, dual SIM support, 2200mAh battery Android 4.2.2 and your usual features like Bluetooth, GPS and WIFI.
Looking over the specs the only cost cutting measure seems to be the TFT display, but for this price it would still make an excellent back up phone, gift etc.

wow, that’s one archaic display like from 2 years ago, 540×960 was barely average even one year ago, so offering even lower resolution in the end of 2013 makes lot of sense, nowadays nothing less than 720p is worth buying
I would appreciate more real news instead of paid advertisement for crappy phones here
I disagree. My 5″ phone has a resolution of only 854*480, and the screen quality is quite good. Sure, having a higher resolution means a sharper display, but I’m more than happy with the quality of the display in my phone.
Also, you fail to consider the incredibly low price for this phone. Having a 720p display add to the cost, and not everyone wants to spend the extra money for a high resolution display.
well you can drive Skoda or some other car, but once you try Audi you won’t go back and it’s same with everything, now you say your crappy display is quite good just because you didn’t use better
I have personally 540×960 with 4.5″ so much bigger density PPI but even daily using better display I realize it’s crappy in 2013 and 720p should be minimum while 1080p optimum
I don’t really see point having quad core new CPU with such display, they should make really low cost phone with low cost specs, but this is half way
and I thought also Gizchina is showing us new good tehnologies or really good deals, this is good deal maybe for my mother or grandma but I could not really go sleep knowing I bought them such crappy phone to save few EUR, but it’s maybe because I can buy for Chinese prices like Xiaomi Hongmi for 130USD which is much better than this for 105USD, this maybe in China cost like 50USD but I don’t really care about such phones, it’s way too low even for poor people, even they can afford spend few more USD to have something significantly better and not buy 2 years old technology (after it left mainstream)
Car analogies are bullshit.
You do see pixelization but it’s not at all annoying or abstructing the whole of the experience.
On the other hand, you get better performance due to having to render about a third of the pixels on a 720p screen and a twelveth of those on a 1080p screens.
What matters more are the brightness, color reproduction and motion reproduction, and to a lesser extent contrast. There’s a reason good OLED screens are always to be prefered over conventinal LCD. It’s just a better display technology. If the screen is bad in all of these areas overall,(which it probably is), then i fully agree, but condemning by resolution alone is like buying a DSLR based on MPixel count.
ah…. burn!
Well, i calculated it’s still 221 DPI, while a 15,6 inch FUll HD laptop only has a 141 DPI.
I can’t complain about my laptop screen, so I should have no problems with this screen either.
Laptop more far away from eyes
well I plan to buy around 42″ Full HD TV (2200-2500RMB in China), should I tell you how low is that PPI? and still I would prefer watch movie on 42″ TV instead of mobile with much higher PPI, because it has completely different use
you can’t really compare mobile, laptop or TV screen to each other
dont worry brah
there are many companies like blu and micromax ready to drop their pants
to buy and market such products @60% profit.
yeah I am sick of those “companies”, going to Chinese factories, “oh, i want order 50K phones and put sticker Blue on it” and then in US sending it to reviewers on different websits and promoting it as US brand although is chinese phone like any other without any customization, oh yeah, they change boot logo animation and wallpaper to some Blu/Micromax brand, those real companies/developers… even bigger shame than these international resellers
I am fan of small Chinese brands developing their own design and ROMs working close to zero profit margin, but onc they start producing it, other Chinese factory will just copy everything and sell it to these brands which add 60% margin or more…
