You can now lay back and expect a flurry of 8-core Chinese smartphone releases to take place in the coming weeks! Latest to join the 8-core bandwagon is the Green Orange NX.
The device, as expected, was released yesterday in China. Specifications include a 5.5 inch LG 1080p screen, 1.7GHz 8-core MT6592, 2GB RAM, 32GB ROM, BSI enabled SONY IMX135 13 mega-pixel rear camera with F/2.0 aperture, 88 degree wide-angle 5 mega-pixel front-facing camera, 2,900mAh battery and the usual connectivity set with the addition of NFC (via accessory). The phone will come with Green Orange’s own take on Android, i.e., MyUI 2.0.
A range of accessories for the phone including NFC leather holsters, smart bracelets, etc. will be made available to customers. The device will come with a heavy price tag of 2699 Yuan ($440) and will hit shelves in China on 5th December.
myui 2.0 , wtf ?
Do you want super quality and super fast Google Nexus 5 for 400$? No, thank you, I want noname phone from uncle Liao for 440$.
What are they smoking?
There are actually some advantages of this over the Nexus 5. It has a larger display, metal chassis, larger battery and (probably) better cameras than the Nexus 5. Plus, from where I come from (Malaysia), the Nexus 5 costs around $600, so I’m still better off getting “noname phone from uncle Liao” for $440.
Outside of the US, the nexus 5 is considerably more expensive, for example, I’d get the 16gb version for $500 here in Taiwan, and the 32 for $600 (USD). Uncle Liao’s phones are starting to look pretty sweet.
Nexus 5 (16 Gb) for 500 euro in Finland… Hello, Uncle Liao.
Um nothing really to see here….. next!!!
i would take this uncle liao for $350 shipped dualsim with tf slot, no more. i guess it can eventually drop the price a bit.
Considering that the nexus 5 16GB version is 900$ here, uncle Liao phones are a success in Brazil.
too expensive for me. That price is entering the established brand market.
