Gionee held a rather interesting launch for their new flagship Android smartphone the Gionee Elife E7, here are the main specification details from the launch!
Gionee made quite a event out of their launch this evening, even streaming the launch in English (although it appears the video wasn’t available live outside of China!. There was obviously a lot of pride in the room at launch and we can see why after looking at the hardware, features and the new Amigo 2.0 OS!
Gionee Elife E7 Specifications
Before the launch rumours and speculation claimed the E7 would have a 2K display, Snapdragon CPU, 3GB RAM, but ultimately be a camera centric device. Well at the launched we learned much of this is true bar the 2K display! Instead the phone has a 5.5-inch 1080 panel with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, still plenty for everyone but a true pixel snob.
Above display sits an 8 mega-pixel front camera, which Gionee say is better than the main camera found on the iPhone 5S, and super narrow 2.33mm screen bezels keep the width of the phone down to a minimum.
On the rear the real star of the show is unveiled! The rear camera is a 16 megapixel unit said to the same unit found in point and shoot cameras the Cannon IXUS140 and Casio EX-ZR1200! In addition the lens is a super touch custom-made part from lens maker Largen and auto-focus motor from Shicoh!
Gizchina News of the week
Being a camera centric device Gionee have also made a number of improvements to the stock camera app which can either be used in basic mode or professional mode with more adjustment to fine tune your images. There are also 20 scene selection options which the camera can automatically choose for you, built-in filters, beautification mode, action mode and even food!
Gionee spent much of the event talking about the camera and the new Amigo 2.0 OS but were also told that the rest of the hardware on the Gionee Elife E7 includes options for either 2GB – 3GB RAM, 16GB -32GB memory 3G and even a 4G LTE option! The 3G version of the phone will get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset running at 2.2Ghz while the LTE model has a 2.5Ghz Snapdragon processor.
If that wasn’t enough the slender phone has NFC, WIFI, GPS, Glonass support and will come in either black, white, blue, orange pink, green or yellow.
Pricing starts at 2699 Yuan ($443) for the 2GB RAM 16GB memory 3G rising to 3499 Yuan ($574) for the 3GBRAM 32GB memory 4G LTE version. A Snapdragon 800 model with 3G only will also be available for 3199 Yuan ($525).
Were pretty impressed with the Gionee Elife E7, what do you guys think?
Andi, could you provide more tech specs on the camera, please? Pixel size, sensor size? Does it have Optical Image Stabilisation? LED or xenon flash?
Removable battery? What capacity?
LTE band support?
Battery is 2500mAh not sure if it is removable
Pixel size is 1.34
Full LTE details I haven’t seen yet
Yeah, I wanna order it from europe, but I can’t find the freqeuency of the 2g, 3g and 4g.
Is snapdragon 800 a globally unlocked processor?
With a snapdragon this is certainly not a dual sim , right ?
and it looks like a no-removable battery too.
except this, it is an amazing great phone at my opinion.
This is single or dual sim phone?
LTE version need to wait until 1st quarter next year 🙁
How its can be buy from europe?
Only 2500 mAh Battery ?? that too not user removable !! and then perhaps no micro Sd slot–WTF
i think very minimum should be 3000 mAh– 4000 mAh preferable– i use my phone for 18 hrs a day.
for me this phones is a no no, no matter how camera centric this phone supposedly is.
i dont understand why they dont make all phones dual sim…
Oh well their loss,im going for the lenovo.
Hm…. I don’t see the size specifications shown.
Looks to be a fantastic phone. I am tempted to buy one if having a removable battery and SD card.
lumia combined with huawei p6…anyway has his own style.
Oh man. I was so close to pegging this as my phone reading the article. The 2500 mAh battery is just a deal-breaker and a half. Honestly 5inch displays and larger need to be at least 3000 or be damn close and showing evidence of excellent optimization. I suppose to be fair battery is the biggest thing for me
look to this Neken/尼凯恩 NX(32G)旗舰版5英寸1080P 1300w四核1.5G智能手机
Disappointed battery life.. Make it little bit thicker but at least put 3000mAh battery. 2500mAh for 5.5″ phone is poor.
Overpriced though missing Wireless Charging and 2K display and not to mention dual sim too…I am out
Is this what you called the inclination of technology?? Like you get better display in 1080P than 720P so you do get lot of convenience with two sims….
No,it’s just rather obvious, high end snapdragon = no dual sim. So pretty much all high end phones bar MT6592 ones won’t meet your criteria.
Yes,and that doesn’t not have LTE. Decisions decisions….
Anyways technology is always a game to wait and watch!!
Moreover things will come on d way least expected or never believed….Its 21st century where possibilities are limitless.
Is it me or are Chinese ppl come with smaller brain and Pen#$
they are obsessed with small.
2K screen with SMALL 2500mah battery????
that too non removable
wow..i mean u create such hype n get crouds to the point
of buyers orgasm and then this…
Gionee needs to get right product not some pretty little cnc painted metal
A little bit steep, if compare it to Xiaomi MI3. I know that it’s hard to buy a Xiaomi phone but Gionee E7 is not a best choice unless it allows open bootloader and CM. People buy Android phone because it’s open (which includes battery and microSD), not by it’s feature. Just like Xiaomi head used to say “The problem in here is price”.
First, I think is a big step for Gionee, first phone with such claim (better front camera than iPhone’s 5S main one), and specs are awesome. Chinese phone makers are really taking seriously the game.
Second thought(s): what about the OS? Is this Android customization worth the try? Based on which version: 4.1.2, 4.2.2, 4.3, 4.4? Because that matters for some people out there. Most of us here are foreigners and not that impressed by an OS name/brand (some of us are even Spaniards, hehe), so, will that system be as optimized as KitKat 4.4 on Nexus 5? Battery life REALLY needs that much optimization. And, what about a total translation to other languages? Answer this in a good way and you’ll earn our hearts…
camera centric phone without shutter button? fail
+ no Micro SD, no Qi charging…
Actually really like it,you can tell they put alot of work in it,but that battery is just downright inadequate. It wasn’t enough for Find 5 it damn sure won’t be enough for a phone with LTE and 2.5ghz processor.Green one is lovely though, well done!
I like it too, well apart from the rear! Other than that it is a fantastic looking phone!
thats also because of oppo’s software.
there are nummerious phone’s with that ammount of battery who are way more battery friendly.
Nope, there aren’t.The old ROM was terrible but ColorOS gets great battery life even with the boatload of features. If Cyanogenmod couldn’t milk that battery on Find 5 no one can. It gets about 16hrs of use with about 5hrs screen on time, pretty standard life. This gionee has more power draining features in a bigger display,LTE,their own siri clone, its gonna be out of charge in a sec
