Quad-core JiaYu G2F gets a super-sweet $82 price tag!

Just when we thought Xiaomi brought about a revolution with their $130 quad-core Xiaomi Hongmi smartphone, a certain JiaYu perhaps took offence and decided to redefine the term ‘low cost quad-core phone’!

The only gripe at this moment is that the JiaYu G2F will initially come only with TD-SCDMA support, with a WCDMA variant scheduled for release later. The device will go on sale in China 5th December, priced just 499 Yuan. To remind you of its specifications, it will come with a 4.3 inch 720p IPS screen, 1.3GHz quad-core MT6582 processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB ROM and an 8 mega-pixel rear and 2 mega-pixel front shooter. The phone will be powered by a 2,200mAh battery and will run LewaOS out of the box.

The prospect of a sub-$120 (internationally shipped, hopefully) is really exciting! Do you see the JiaYu G2F as your secondary ‘mini’ phone? Let us know!

Interesting phone, will be waiting for a black WCDMA version

    • November 27, 2013

It’s an odd one this as the MT6582 chipset in this phone actually supports both TD-SCDMA and WCDMA. I wonder if there is a way to unlock it somehow?

I wish they’d do another one that looks like the g3s, a quad or Octo core, 3000mah battery, 1.7 to 2ghz processes and more internal memory would be the perfect phone! I love the g3 style

    • November 27, 2013

If they took the G3 styling and brought it inline with current trends (narrow bezels etc) it would look great!

Would love to see this phone going international soon, probably two or three months? Or hope it gets hacked so it gets WCDMA support. ^^

I really love the specs&price, the only thing that tells me “Don’t buy this phone!” is that video where I could see their factory and a few not-so-happy users on youtube claiming screen issues with Jiayu.

out of stock at the moment but it goes in an out of stock each day. Best value phone on the market, similar price to chinese equivalents but it comes with stock android 4.3 with 4.4 coming by january and it has a qualcomm quadcore instead of mediatek so better rom support.

i don’t know, you will need to go to the motorola website and see what frequencies the phone supports and find out what frequencies romanian networks support.

I bought my SPH-L900 Note 2, like new with a like new body glove case for $200 a year ago from craigslist… Why would I spend $200 on a moto g, lol!!! There are better choices posted on this site for around $121-125, I just don’t remember off the top of my head… w/larger screens too…

For the UK and Europe, what is better than the Hongmi WCDMA, with the same specs and for $202? I mean, 8MP camera, expandable memory, sweet processor and GPS that works in Europe? I was looking at the ZP980 but it’s out of budget. Maybe the G3T? Please advise.

              November 30, 2013

hongmi wcdma is the best deal you can get for that money, but the problem is to get it since it’s not available even in china these imaginary xiaomi phones released in thousands with preorders, lotteries and other crap just to build hype and sell few pieces until manifature expenses go lower and just then when competition already catch on after months to start real mass production. so yes xiaomi is great if you can get it but sadly not real offer, FAEA F1 and other phones are more real

if they would have something like this with 2G RAM, 2500-3000mAh battery and WCDMA even for 50% higher price (still on par with 1G Hongmi) I would be interested, any tips?

    • December 1, 2013

Not in the price range you mention, but you can maybe get hold of a Xiaomi Mi2 along with a 3100mAh battery.

      • Markoff
        December 1, 2013

for price of xiaomi mi2 there are plenty of other phones with specs I’m looking for, the point was having cheap WCDMA phone with 2GB RAM and 720p screen, not so large, preferably 4.3-4.5″, but I can live up to 5″ (although there it would be better to have full HD), basically they just need to add 1GB RAM to Xiaomi Hongmi and it would be fine if they would charge let’s say 900-1000RMB for it

will probably hit $150 usd with international shipping. if that is the case, then the moto g should be the better buy. but if under $120 usd, i will defiiely get one.

  12. kerry
    December 16, 2013

$150 is bullshit! This should only be $100-120 max already shipped. Like what everyone’s been saying, if it’s anything more just get the moto g.

LOL… I can just see it now, incoming Skype or ooVoo call, “hi honey, ohh I’m at the library watching an educational video. No?! I am not at a strip club, and that is not strobe lights and DJ music in the background!
