Eight core HiLive 16 Goes on Sale in Two Editions, Less than 300 Dollars

The Octacore HiLive 16 has been released and is on sale in two different editions on HiLive’s official website. The lower spec version, selling for 1699 Yuan (280USD, 204EUR) contains 1GB RAM and 16 GB of in-phone storage while the higher spec version contains a more hearty 2GB of RAM and 32GB of on-board memory and costs 1999 Yuan (328USD, 239EUR). Both versions of the phone include the eight core MTK6592 CPU clocked to 2GHz, a 6-inch 1920×1080 display, a 13MP camera on the back and an 8MP camera on the front.

The 1GB of RAM on the lower spec version certainly doesn’t seem like it would be enough to properly take advantage of that sexy CPU, meaning if the HiLive 16 is in your sights, you would likely be better off splurging on the more expensive version.

The design of the HiLive 16 has been compared to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. It is similar in look and like the Note 3 the HiLive 16 also supports gesture commands.

The HiLive 16 certainly looks to be a very well armed alternative to the Note 3, do you think it is worthy of a purchase?

  The main image above shows a stylus, although I’d want to know whether it was more than just a simple capacitive touch stylus.

I am definitely buying this one instead of the Zopo ZP998 and the rest with the lower 1.7GHz octacore CPUs. And to think they are all within the same price range too.

  I think too but not for the screen, si too big for me (i prefer a MT6592 @2.0 Ghz but with a 5″ or maximun 5,3″ screen… i have actually a MLais MX58 PRO in 5″ inch and is just perfect)

    Just like you, I would prefer a 5″ or 5.5″ max, but if I cant get any of those with a 2.0GHz MT6592 SOC, I might have to go with this. This is the first 2.0GHz MT6592 and it might just take my money unless another with 5″ – 5.5″ shows up real soon.

      What practical benefits will increasing the processor clock speed from 1.7 GHz to 2GHz give? Given that all the early indications seem to be that 1.7GHz is more than adequate for speedy operation, I’d be more concerned about increased power consumption.

        Its all about the speed and snappiness of the processor John. The higher the GHz, the faster the processor can execute commands (More importantly) and less I forget … that means a bigger Antutu scores … though not important though.
        And I think 3000mAh battery should be good enough if you judge by MT6589 quads

        The deal is it will be more power efficent than its predescor. You can undercloke it to 1.7 ghz and have better p/e rating than previous. And when the day ycames that you are going to need that extra 300 mhz. It will be avaible there. Better CPU is better in all rounds. Thats why its being sold for higher price. Its not same cpu which is overclocked!!!

i thot that the mtk6592 at 2 ghz was accompanied by LPDDR3 ram?…why is this one having LPDDR2?

The specs look nice.
How does this 2 GHz MTK6592 CPU compare to a Snapdragon 800 like in the Xiaomi MI3?
And where can i buy this phone? The HiLive’s official website is not loading here.
