Korean
phone developer Pantech is continuing to bet that
consumers want to keep
what is on their
phone private. The recently announced the
Vega Secret Up sports impressive but not unheard of specs with a 5.6 inch (14.2cm) 1080p
screen, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 CPU clocked at 2.3GHz, 2GB of RAM, a 3150mAh battery and 16GB of on-
phone storage. What gives the
Vega Secret Up its name however, is its hidden
screen technology and
fingerprint scanner.
Like Pantech's flagship phone, the
Secret Note, the
Vega Secret Up features proprietary Pantech technology that obscures the view on the
screen for anyone attempting to look at the
phone from the side. With most manufacturers attempting to improve viewing angles it is a little, interesting to say the least, to see a company touting that its
screen only has one viewing angle. To round out the privacy experience, the
Vega Secret Up includes a
fingerprint scanner on the back of the
device, which can also be used for some basic functions.
A special mention should be given to the device's 24-bit audio system which is pretty damn close to top of the line at the moment. Pantech announced that we should see the Vega Secret Up on store shelves in Korea on December 10th, no word on an international release or a price yet.
What do you think, is keeping what you do on your phone private important enough to sacrifice the ability to share when you want to?
