Mediatek could have moved their schedule on a few months and their 4G LTE8-core MT6595 processor could be available as soon as January.
It was previously believed that Mediaek’s first 4G LTEprocessor would not be available to phone makers until mid-way through 2014, however with the Chinese government turning 4G LTE on across China earlier than expected the new chipsets are now also expected earlier.
According to sources in Taiwan Mediatek’s 4G LTE processor, the MT6595, will feature the same 8-core architecture as the current MT6592 and will also come in either 1.7Ghz or 2.2Ghz and multi-band network. Just as the MT6592 supports WCDMA, TD-SCDMA and GSM the new MT6595 chipset will too, but in addition will get FDD-LTE and TD-LTE support.
Apparently manufacturers are already testing the 4G chip in phones in China now, so don’t be surprised if a few still unreleased 8-core devices are pushed back a month or two to receive the update!

FDD-LTE might be compatible 😉
To what I’ve seen, most European carriers use FDD, with some using TDD instead. The problem depends on what 4G frequencies the MT6595 will support. In Spain, the carriers use the 1800/2600 frequency (channel 3/7), so unless the MT6595 can operate on those frequencies, it would be limited to WCDMA here in spain.
In the netherlands it is 800mhz and 1800mhz for 4G.
It would be nice of mediatek is going to support all of the frequencies…
