Xiaomi Hongmi gets another rival in the form of InFocus M310!

Another Chinese manufacturer tries to take on the mighty Xiaomi and their $130 Hongmi. This time, it is InFocus which give it their all with their latest M310 smartphone.

The device comes with specifications that are more or less identical to Hongmi’s. This includes a 4.7-inch screen with the same 1280 x 720p resolution, 1GB RAM, 4GB ROM with support for 64GB microSD cards, the same 1.5GHz quad-core MT6589T processor, 8 mega-pixel rear, 1.3 mega-pixel front cameras and a 2,450mAh battery. The M310 comes only in a WCDMA version, which should bring some respite to international customers. That is, if the device does take off and catch the attention of international resellers.

Gizchina News of the week

As can be seen from the images, the phone sports a sort of eccentric colour scheme and an angular body. The phone is priced at par with the Xiaomi Hongmi, retailing at 799 Yuan or a roughly little over $130 in China.

awesome looks, perfect size (for me), good display resolution, capable battery BUT why do they even bother with the old MT6589T?
Would make a perfect mid-range phone if it had the MT6582…

I wondered exactly same when I read the MT6589T. MT6582 is a more capable SOC. Why bother with the MT6589T?

        Because it’d cheaper

Care to post a link about this? I’m curious about how much each SoC costs.

It is, but if you have the old one in stock you’re just racking up losses. If they could put in the new soc, they would.

MT6589T can support HD displays now why is MT6582 cheaper? because it can only handle diplays at qHD resolution thats why its slightly cheaper than its MT6589 brothers

Because it s more than enough power. One year ago we had only dual core mtk6577 I suppose that you were asking for mtk6589 and now it s too old for you!

So you trink using the weaker and more expensive chip makes sense because one year ago there was only dual core…?

I think that we it’s was already enough for dual core experience, so With quad core mtk6589 it is good, but people only see marketing and want to have the biggest with 6582 while the mtk6589t runs android android smoothly. plus a this price you can’t get the 6582

no!! there you are wrong, the 6582 is cheaper, it’s the updated quadcore, the octa is 6592.

No, the quad of MT6592 is MT6588, you seem to mention it… MT6588 belongs to the same class as Qualcomm’s MSM8226 (S400). Today, I just heard about Huawei Honor 3C quipped with MT6588. But it will cost CND.999.

sorry, you miss understood me, i mean that the 82 is a quad core cheaper and better (beacuse it has new technology) than the 89T, that’s what the first post mean.

Because there are already ports of android for the MT6589 and 6589T and that should enable them to deliver good enough android experience.
