Cyanogen’s latest $23 million funding could mean more Chinese CyanogenMod phones on the way!

Cyanoogen are having an amazing year, they launched as a company teamed up with Oppo and have now received an additional $23 million in funding which could mean more Chinese CyanogenMod phones are on the way.

CyanogenMod is already readily available for the Oppo Find 5, and the CM version of the Oppo N1 looks all set to ship, plus there is the highly likely chance that we will be seeing CM on the phones from startup OnePlus, but there could be more on the way.

In their recent round of funding the Cyanogen Team announced that they had signed a deal with China’s Tencent for the company to become a strategic partner. For those of you who don’t know, Tencent are the largest software maker in China and the creators of QQ and Wechat.

With the additional funding and help from Tencent we will probably see more Chinese phone makers adopt CM for their hardware which is great news for us as it means frequent updates and the latest features!

What do you think about this possibility? Do you thing CM could unsettle Xiaomi’s MIUI?

It’s good news. Lets see if your prediction is correct.

I’d love to see hardware like Vivo Xplay 3S running CM!
