The upcoming Onda V975m is already quite a bargain at its normal price of 1099-1199CNY (181-194USD). With its 9.7-inch 2048×1536 “retina” screen, 2.0 GHz quad-core CPU and 600 MHz octa-core GPU, anything under 200USD sounds like a bargain. Now, the Chinese electronic shopping site JD.com is lowering the bar even further, reducing the price of the tablet to 999CNY (165USD, 120EUR).
The Onda V975m is expected to be released early next month, but the company is hoping to get in on the current holiday season by heavily pushing its online pre-orders. In addition to the aforementioned specs, the Onda V975m features 1GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board storage, a 5MP back camera and a 2MP front facing camera.
While the relatively low amount of RAM is a concern, the tablet nevertheless scored very well on its AnTuTu benchmarks, at least according to official numbers. Onda’s official site claims that the Onda V975m scores 30,549 on the popular benchmark app. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 scored 33,768 and currently sells for 299.99USD.
For those interested who don’t live in a country JD.com ships to, or don’t want to deal with a Chinese language site, Onda has made the tablet avaliable for pre-order on its official site. You won’t get the JD.com discount but it still only costs 199.90USD.
