With rumour mills working overtime over the past few months, the one thing that’s hard to miss is 1440p displays. That’s exactly what the Vivo Xplay 3S and Oppo Find 7 have, and according to reports there will soon be a few other devices jumping the 1440p bandwagon.
Gizchina News of the week
One manufacturer who doesn’t miss out on the latest fad, as you might know, is Samsung. If reports are to be believed, the South Korean giant is already has 5.25-inch displays with 2560 x 1440p underway. Their next, the Galaxy S5, is due early next year, and is the prime candidate to feature the aforementioned 5.25-inch 1440pdisplay. In line with other devices comprising of the Galaxy S series, the S5 too is expected to have Super AMOLED technology backing the display.
With a plethora of other 1440p devices including the Vivo Xplay 3S, (upcoming) OPPO Find 7, etc., do Samsung have it in them to beat the competition?

Just because you think it’s too much doesn’t mean that technology or tech companies will stop, deal with it.
No we dont. It’s marketing since 720p..
Realistically though, the only reason they do this is so they can sell it as a higher-grade component since realistically producing 1440p screens is not a problem at all and doesnt even cost much more.
The problem is that this is aimed at the braindead consumer who doesnt look farther than the resolution. They spend time increasing the resolution so that…
It’s a problem when developing.
You cannot run a complex 3d game at native resolution without making some very serious sacrifices.
You also use up more GPU power and therefore more battery.
You Also handicap the response time of the screen severely.
You also push marketing bullshit instead of focusing on making a good screen with deep blacks, rich colors and high brightness.
Samsung and JD are forgiven for the last 2 points since amoled and igzo solve those issues, but other manufacturers wont be making screens as good.
I completely agree, this is bullshit. Samsung Lagwiz is already a shambles, they should focus on improving their POS android build before lagging it up further with pointless higher pixel count.
Hopefully without Knox otherwise pass!
we don;t need V8 engines either do we? Also Mercedes? We should all drive Toyota Corollas
