Umi X3 official renders, rumoured to use 8-core 4G LTE chip!

Here are the first official renders of the new UMi X3smartphone along with a few of the rumoured specifications!

After playing around with a few of the first8-core phones to hit the market (see our THL T100S vs Zopo ZP998 comparison) we have to say that UMi have probably have been wise holding off the launch of their next generation flagship model, the UMi X3.

We have seen the UMi X3 a few times in leaked images and a few of the specifications have managed to leak, but the latest details are by far the most tantalising!

According to reports the UMi X3 will boast a 2Ghz variant of the octa-core MT6592 chipset with 4G LTE support, what’s more the phone it said to pack up to 3GB RAM, a 16 mega-pixel rear camera and 5.5-inch 1080 display, 3500mAh battery plus NFC! There is even a small chance that UMi might up the resolution of the display to 2K!

Still these are still rumours and we take each and everyone with a good dashing of salt, but even if they are partially true they make the UMi X3 one phone we would love to get our hands on!

Well, will the GPU in the 8-Core MT6592 2Ghz be able to handle 2K resolution properly? By properly, I mean even in game stressing too. Remains to be seen though. If Umi goes for that, might be my next phone for 2014. For now, I am eyeing the one with the 3D FHD display

why the f*ck do we need 2k resolutions on small screen?

Umi Mobiles are CHEATERS….. they cheated me of X2.
I paid the full amount & i am waiting since 8 months… no mobile yet.
No ways to contact them also as they have banned me from facebook & they don’t reply to my mails…. i am tired of calling their customer care also….
Even though i have all the proof of making payment, i am not able to get the money back or receive the phone…
I dont know what to do…
But i request all other new users to stay away from this Cheating Company !!!
I am saying this for the sake of your hard earned money…. the rest is upto you..

  I assume you must be from India. As an Indian, please take my advice.
  Keep the proof of payment in original. Photocopy it and then file a complaint
  against the website/company in the nearest Comsumer District Court. You may
  think it is difficult, but it is very easy. Form costs only Rs. 100/- to
  file.
  If you want lawyer, you can hire one, but no need for lawyer in Consumer
  Court. You can appear for the case yourself, just by giving all the papers. And
  unlike regular courts, Consumer Courts decide cases very quickly.
  Ask them either for the phone or tell them to refund money with interest,
  plus compensation for mental agony.

    since Umi is a foreign company, i doubt what you qouted works out easily…
    Right now i am in Germany. but once i come back to India, may be in another 6 months, i will have to fight them back…
    what are my chances of getting either the phone or the money ?

I actually love this phone… don’t think it will be 2k screen though…. that would affect performance and raise cost for no real reason. But it’s welcomed if the camera is good and the flash is bright. Better to use hyper sensitive screen for off screen gesture like Lg g2 rather than 2k

I’m liking this, and I soooooo want to try a Chinese build phone (that is not a so called flagship manufacturer, if you understand me). Did the Umi X2 go down well or not ?

  I never owned one so someone else can speak with more authority but from what I read the UMI X2 was good. All Mediatek devices seems to struggle with poor GPS connection. The other issue I heard about with the X2 was it bent easily but then I also had this issue with my Jiayu G4 and cracked some screens

      The phone is great but if it was a bit sturdier and the GPS was better would make a huge improvement. Possibly the G5 resolves a lot of these issues being stainless. Jiayu are notorious for making announcements months before release. Personally I like the look of the new THL models, check https://www.gizchina.com/2013/12/23/exclusive-thl-t100s-vs-zopo-zp998-hands-comparison/ and also https://www.gizchina.com/2013/12/26/tcl-idol-x-full-specifications-photos-32000-point-antutu/ but it all depends on what specs, size, price etc you want. As with anything you get what you pay for. Rather than focussing on price your better to focus on value for money.

Today an article in with “!”, then the pass in the solid real world, in the availability of chinese device, it’s an obscure and impossible story.
Take a look at the launche of the smartphone equipped with mtk6592… a lot of article, tons of new about units, dimension, style, display, test antutu but, if you check for the REAL AVAILABILITY, then you will have only bad surprise.
It’s all stupid marketing, fake news, fake promise…the strategy it seem clear: a great bla, bla, bla, bla, bla on the chinese products, but not on the REAL but on the unsolid possibility. Maybe, I hope, we will see an octa core with LTE, but I would prefer read when the smartophone will be stocked in a wharehouse! Not 11 months before!

I owned a UMI X2 Turbo.
Its a great phone, now with working gps. (I tried many firmwares)
But the wlan is very poor. I can go only 5 meters araound my accespoint.

    I get my different firmwares from needrom.com . actually i run lightning rom v6.
    And no, its not the acesspoint. I cant recive any other wlan’s, with any other Smartphone you recive 20 ore more wlan.
