Will Xiaomi launch an Android tablet running MIUI? Rumours would suggest so with the latest news telling us of a 7-inch device costing around $177.
We have seen numerous leaks and images which claim to be of a Xiaomi tablet and they just don’t seem to be going away! The latest details are similar to those leaked previously and tell of a Xiaomi tablet with a 7-inch 1280 x 720 display, 1GB RAM and quad-core processor.
Gizchina News of the week
The only changes have been in the processor type, which is now said to be the tablet specific 1.5Ghz MT8125 chipset from Mediatek rather than the MT6589T, and a slight price increase to 1098 Yuan.
People who claim to have handled the Xiaomi tablet say that the device measures just 7.5mm thick and will compete agains the highly popular, but more expensive, Apple iPad mini.

hmm, I really hope that spec sheets wrong. I love Xiaomi but the MT8125 is too under powered for a smooth tablet experience in my opinion especially with only 1GB Ram. After seeing 1920×1080 on the nexus 7 I can’t really go below that given that I just sold last years Nexus 7 to buy a new tablet so 1280×720 would actually be a step down.
I do find it hard to believe though that Xioami’s entrance into the tablet market would be a low end device, given the fact they built their reputation on high end spec sheets, with the hongmi being the only truly low end device they have ever released.
Might be one based on the Tegra Note 7 as the company was mentioned as one of the partners of Nvidia that will market the tablet (here’s the link – http://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2013/09/18/tegra-note/).
Xiaomi might have a different case for it just like what HP did with their Slate 7 Extreme which is basically a Tegra Note with a different back cover and an HP logo in front. The Tegra Note is being manufactured and sold here in China by SZ Homecare. It’s being sold online for about $237 complete with cover and stylus.
