With Apple and rivalchipset manufacturer Qualcomm releasing their own 64-bit processors and LG’s Odin apparently besting Samsung’s Exynos 5 on AnTuTu, Samsung is apparently feeling the heat and is reportedly working on a newcustom built CPU named the Exynos S chip. This, according to Chinese Technology site MyDrivers.com.
The highly rumored Exynos 6 chip is still expected to be released. Like previous Exynos CPUs the Exynos 6 will still use cores developed by ARM. The newly-rumored Exynos S chip, on the other hand, will utilize custom cores built and developed in-house by Samsung. According to the same report, the Exynos S chip will be 1.43 times as fast as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800CPU.
Gizchina News of the week
The SamsungGalaxy S5, Samsung’s much-anticipated next generation flagship phone, will likely utilize the Exynos 6 chipset, which has been in development for a longer period of time. However, it would not be a surprise to see the Exynos S in future devices, like in a potential SamsungGalaxy Note 4.
MyDrivers.com is also reporting that Samsung will make the newCPU official during the upcoming Consumer Electronic Show (CES) on January 7th in Las Vegas.
We will have more information as it breaks.
