Xiaomi just released the Mi3 in the last few months, but everyone is already looking for the next thing. A few days ago pictures alleging to be the outer shell of the Xiaomi Mi4 have started to pop up around the web. Now rumblings of a Mi4 Mini being in the works have begun to pop up.
Micro Bloggers from popular Chinese social sites are alleging that a Mini version of the flagship phone is also in the works. Any possible “Mini” device will obviously have a smaller screen and lower specs but also a lower price tag.
The original, still-technically-rumored Mi4, is suspected to utilize Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 805 CPU and come packed with a whopping 3GBs of RAM. Judging by the pictures, there also appears to be significant space to house a powerful camera. Considering the Mi3’s 13MP camera, it will likely be at least that good.

So a possible Mi4 Mini would have plenty of room to come down, spec wise, while still being a capable phone.
The spotty Google Translations have the Chinese sites stating that this is the “Millet Phone 4” or Mi4. It is unclear if Xiaomi is planning on skipping its S designation phone for the Mi3 generation. The Mi2 got two extra variations half way through its life. The Mi2A came out as a lowered spec budget phone while the Mi2S went the opposite route, offering improved specs over the original Mi2.
Everything at this point is highly speculative and should be taken with a grain of salt. We will update you if and when more information becomes available.
