Xiaomi’s Hongmi might be one of the better value phones on the market but even that $130 phone is starting to look pricey when compared to the JiaYu F1, but Xiaomi aren’t giving up yet and are believed to be working on a $50 phone!
Gizchina News of the week
Xiaomi are aiming to expand throughout Asia and a low cost phone could be just what the company needs to break in to emerging markets. Obviously, details of the $50 Xiaomi haven’t been made public yet, but we can guess the phone will be running one of Mediatek entrylevel quad-core MT6582 chipsets, around 1GB RAM and possibly a 4.5-inch display.
When Xiaomi plan to launch is also a mystery, but we will keep you updated with all the latest news!

i highly doubt it will have 1gb and 4.5″ considering jaiyu’s phone is 512mb and 4″ 🙁
A 50 dollar phone with MTK 6582, and 1 GB of RAM? That sounds unbelievable. All sub-100 US$ smartphones usually sport a slow dual-core (maybe 6572) and low-resolution screens. If Xiaomi can really pull this off (this year, not in 15 years), then hats off to them 🙂
Next time they will announce hexadeca-core phone with dual 48MP camera, 32GB RAM, 16TB storage and king kong glass for only $100… yet you have to preorder 15 years in advance.
and they will only have 1000 available on launch day.
King kong glass? lol
You got me laughing over here, practically fell off my chair! King Kong glass, Ohh my gosh, I’m laughing up a storm over here!
My goodness! 10 minutes pasted, and I’m still giggling over here lol!

with such specs and price, i think it would be somewhere in 2015. 🙂
Amen! I would be happier if they made a 4.3″ Mi3 with a Snapdragon 800 thou.
