Micromax’s latest offering, the Canvas LapTab, will soon go on sale with a sub-$500 price tag in India.
The device, initially showcased at the CES, is Micromax’s first to offer dual-booting capabilities. The 10.1-inch device is capable of booting Windows 8.1 and Android v4.2.2 out of the box. Powered by a 1.46GHz Intel Celeron processor, the Canvas LapTab also happens to be the Indian giant’s first device to feature an Intel processor.

Speaking to PTI, Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma said,
“The Laptab will be priced under USD 500 for the Indian market and we expect to sell about 100,000 units in the domestic market in the first half of 2014,”
Although the device won’t be the most powerful in the Rs. 30,000 range in India, Micromax would hope to bank on the dual-booting aspect of the tablet.
Micromax have shown ambitions of going global in the past. The Canvas LapTab might just turn out to be their ticket into the international arena, if marketed well. Sharma also added, “As Micromax looks to expand footprints across global markets, we would continue to fulfill our promise of democratising technology for people around the world by making it more affordable and accessible,”
Innovative step but on quality may not say.
