New low-end Xiaomi Hongmi 1S rumoured to have MT6588 quad-core processor

Xiaomi Hongmi rumours have been baking in the rumour mill’s oven so long that they have doubled and now include an additional low-end Xiaomi Hongmi 1S!

The current quad-core Hongmi at 799 Yuan is the most affordable Xiaomi phone now available on sale but this could change in the coming weeks with the launch of the Xiaomi Hongmi 2 and Xiaomi Hongmi 1S!

Gizchina News of the week

First of all, we are not going to see a price drop in Hongmi models but a name and specification change. According to sources the Hongmi 1S will be the 799 Yuan entry-level phone for this year powered by a quad-core MT6588 chipset, mali 450 600mHz GPU, and possible 1080 display.

The Xiaomi Hongmi 2 will then likely jump up in the range with an octacore processsor and higher 999 Yuan price tag. There is also tell of the Snapdragon 800 8974AC powered Xiaomi Mi3S which will also launch around the same time for 1999 Yuan.

The three phones are expected to launch just after the forthcoming Chinese Spring Festival celebrations.

I got tired of hearing about Mi3S and Mi4 when Mi3 WCDMA 64GB is not even released yet!, this will be very upsating having a Mi3S after a very short existence of the Mi3 WCDMA.

Great! I was waiting for first sightings of 6588 – which imo will be best price/performance from MTK in 2014

It was also rumoured that the Unicom version will sport Snapdragon 400 instead (if I understand the article from GizmoChina correctly). It will be really sweet to have a Snapdragon 400 – powered Xiaomi phone for even less than Moto G 🙂

What are the rumored specs of the upcoming Mi3S?

    • January 14, 2014

New processor and possible LTE. I also hope it get’s a 5.5-inch display as the body is big enough.

It would be great if the new Xiaomi Hongmi could have quadband support for WCDMA (850/900/1900/2100). It would be a great phone for developing countries!

    • January 14, 2014

Yep, would be an excellent feature. Fingers crossed
