This year phone manufacturers will be upping the resolution displays to a whopping 2560 x 1440! Are all those pixels really needed on a phone though, will you be able to see the difference? Take a look at this side by side comparison to find out!
Vivo are currently the only phone maker to have launched a smartphone with 2K display, but Oppo will soon arrive in the arena too with the Find 7 and there are rumours of the Meizu MX4G getting the same treatment.
On paper it looks great to be rocking the latest in screen technology, but will you actually be able to see the difference a 2560 x 1440resolution screen makes to viewing you phone?
Vivo Xplay 3S vs Note 3 vs iPhone 5S
Below are comparison photos between the 2K Vivo Xplay 3S, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and iPhone 5S. The images on each phone are the same and brightness of each display has been turned up to full.
Gizchina News of the week
Obviously these images won’t really do the Xplay 3S a full service and the only way to see the difference is by getting one in your hands, however even in these photos it appears the 2K panel does in fact offer much brighter colours, and sharp images. Viewing angles also seem to be much improved on the Vivio’s display also.
What do you guys think? Are you sold on the 2K screen revolution or would you like to see improvements in other areas?

wasting of power to calculate such a big screen size and not seeing any big difference. Maybe the screen is a little bit brigther than the Note 3, not the iPhone, but this isn’t the result of 2K, isn’t it? Not seeing any difference in sharpness and even when I hold a 5inch FHD screen in front of my nose I am not seeing any pixel. Maybe with a camera that has a big zoom, but this isn’t normal day case. So at the end it only uses a lot more power for the same result.
maybe with bigger screen sizes FHD will come to an end, but not seeing any need of 2k with screen sizes lower 5 inch.
