The new UMi flagship phone has been seen in leaked photosonline and on Facebook and we know from good authority that the UMi X3 should be available to buy from February, so what are the full specifications of the phone? Keep reading to find out.
UMi X3 Design
UMi can’t really be called a Shanzhai (clone maker) company but they don’t make the most original phones on the market either. Their first flagship phone, the UMi X1 looked like the original Xiaomi M1S, the X2 was similar to a Samsung design and the UMi X3 is a combination of iPhone, Meizu and iPad mini.
From the front of the device the UMi X3 looks almost identical to the Meizu MX3, although the screen bezels on the Meizu are thinner. The UMi even has a similar capacitive home button to the Meizu which in some leaks is the same halo designs and other leaks looks like the home button found on Apple devices.
Looking at the UMi X3 side on is where the real Apple influence shines though. The tapered alloy edges around the display are reminiscent of the edges of the iPad mini .
The rear of the phone is your basic candy bar design. A rear facing camera at the top left with dual LED flash sat to the right. The XIII logo with various official makes are printed along the bottom.
Gizchina News of the week
So it might not have the most unique origins of any smartphone, but UMi have done a good job of tying all these influences in to a smart looking final product measuring just 7mm at it’s thickest thanks to a unibody design.
UMi X3 Specifications
We really like what UMi have done with the specifications on the UMi X3. They could have easily launched this phone at the start of 2014 with lower specs, but chose to source better hardware which will benefit those buying the flagship phone.
The display for example is a 5.5-inch FHD 1920 x 1080 unit sourced from LG, and is apparently the same display found on high-end LG phones!. UMi have also gone for the faster 2.0Ghz version of the octacore MT6592 processor, complete with 2GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
Network support is even better than average with the first version of the UMi X3 coming with TD-SCDMA, WCDMA and GSM support and future models boasting 4G LTE.

[komper pid=147 compareform=no]UMi X3 Pricing and launch date
Our sources at UMi have told us that the X3 will be available after the Chinese New Year, so we are expecting a similar mid-late Feb launchdate as the iOcean X8. Pricing should also be on par with the iOcean with international retails prices being around $300.
We have also heard from other brands who will be offering the UMi X3 under their own name, so watch out for any bargains which might be on offer.
