Alleged Samsung Galaxy S5 Packaging With Specs Leaked

A Dutch Site has posted alleged images of the Samsung Galaxy S5’s packaging, with specs, but there is some question to the picture’s validity.

The site samsunggalaxys5.nl posted the image that they said they received from an anonymous tipster. It was then picked up by Unwired View. According to the image, the Samsung Galaxy S5 will sport a 2.5GHz Quadcore CPU, 3GB of RAM, a 20MP main camera and a 2MP front camera. It also says it will boast a 5.25 inch QHD (2560×1440) AMOLED screen.

Some of this jives with current rumors and some of it runs contradictory to what we have been hearing recently. Recent rumors had the Galaxy S5 ditching the AMOLED screen in favor of an LCD one. The 2.5Ghz CPU does seem to indicate a Snapdragon 805 CPU, which falls in line with what various sites have been reporting, although other rumors have it coming with a 2.3Ghz Snapdragon 800.

Gizchina News of the week

As for the 20MP camera, most rumors have it having a 16MP camera, but a 20MP camera isn’t out of the realm of possibilities. Sites have pegged the Galaxy S5 with 3GB of RAM, but more have had it listed with 2GB or 4GB.

There are also rumors of two different versions of the Galaxy S5, which may account for some of the conflicting rumors.

So what does all this mean? Well, it means that we have yet another rumor to throw on the Galaxy S5 heap. Maybe this is legitimate, but it seems to me if Samsung was going to go through the trouble of putting in a QHD AMOLED screen, they would push that aspect harder for consumers who might not know exactly what that is.

It also seems suspicious that they would advertise “Full 1080p Playback and Recording” when it would be capable of playing videos at resolution twice that high.

Either way, we should find out February 24th, the day of Samsung’s “Unpacked 5” event.

2.5Ghz probably means Snapdragon 800ac version. I think its too early for 805 to be honest
