Xiaomi are making their first tentative steps out of China with the official launch of the Xiaomi Redmi in Singapore on Feb 21st.
Gizchina News of the week
The almost 12 month old Xiaomi Redmi (aka Hongmi) is still selling well despite rumours that it will soon be replaced and even with fierce competition from rivals such as the Huawei Honor 3C. Xiaomi will soon be increasing sales volumes though as the Redmi makes it’s debut in Singapore on Feb 21st.
Specifications of the Redmi remain unchanged meaning a 4.7-inch 720p display, 1GB RAM, 1.5Ghz MT6589T processor and 8 mega-pixel main camera. Xiaomi fans in Singapore will be able to buy the Redmi for just S$ 169!

Damn, that’s an awesome price! If they bring one to Canada for the same price (169 SGD is a little under 150 CAD), I’d get one in a heartbeat (it would make a good backup phone) 🙂
Why don’t you just buy it online and ship it over? Don’t they go for about that price now?
I’m from Singapore, if Xiaomi Singapore don’t allow overseas shipping I could probably help you out somehow…
You’re planning to visit Canada anytime soon?
170$ bucks for an outdated MT6589T phone with a mere 4GB ROM is all but an “awesome price”…
So you are going to pay $150 for a phone will work on Rogers 2G only?
expensive! You can get a Motorola Moto G for £99, this is basically the same price.
can you buy that MotoG free of contract and not being forced to buy a certain data pre-paid plan from some 3g provider? (i mean after you bought only the phone – you can use whatever sim you want)
yes you can buy the moto g off-contract and insert any sim you want after you use a £2 unlock code bought off ebay.
for sure SINGAPORE dollars are mentioned here, so, it’s only about 130$ in fact, which seems pretty ok
