Ubuntu for Meizu MX3 confirmed, MX2 also a possibility

Yesterday’s press release confirmed that Ubuntu phones are on the way with a partnership forged between Canonical and Meizu. Further news released from Meizu tells that Ubuntu will be available for all MX3 phones.

The Meizu MX3 currently ships with Android OS and if you have one the chances are you are running the phone with Meizu’s own Flyme ROM. Few third party ROM options are available for the MX3, but if you want to try something different then a taste of Linux might be what you need.

Gizchina News of the week

Meizu have partnered with Canonical to launch Ubuntu powered phones later this year, the good news though is that current MX3 owners will soon be able to download Ubuntu for their phones to try it out first. Meizu haven’t given a timetable for release only saying that it will come soon to the flagship MX3. Unconfirmed reports also say that Meizu are mulling over the idea of bringing Ubuntu to the MX2 too.
