Now that the Samsung GalaxyS5 is launched and we have all been disappointed by the specs its time to see what rival manufacturers think of the phone. The latest Find 7teaser seems to suggest that Oppo have the S5 in their sights.
The GalaxyS5 was the talk of the rumour mill ahead of MWC, but now fans are disappointed. Critics have complained about the lack ouster update in hardware, the lack of innovation and the ugly design. This general lack of interest in the GalaxyS5 is going to mean rival manufacturers have a chance to step in and take up the slack, and Oppo think it is in for a chance.
Gizchina News of the week
The latest Oppo Find 7teaser looks like Oppo are seeing the GalaxyS5 as a phone they can take on in the market. On paper this does seem to be the case as the Find 7 simply blows the S5 away on a hardware level.
What has been confirmed about the Oppo Find 7 is that it will have a 5.5-inch 2K (2560 x 1440) display, 4G LTE support, removable battery and SD memory card support for 128GB cards. From leaks the Find 7 should be getting a 2.26Ghz Qualcomm processor, Android 4.3 and internal memory of 32GB. Pricing is sure to be cheaper than an unlocked GalaxyS5 too!
Are Oppo biting off more than they can chew, or is the S5 dead in the water?
In terms of how good the phone will be, it’s probably going to leave the S5 in the dust. The best phone at the moment seems to be the Xperia Z2, which is just a minor upgrade from the Z1. HTC have yet to release the New One (M8), so can’t compare that yet, as well as the Huawei Ascend P7 and D3.
In terms of sales though, Samsung will probably take the lead, followed by HTC and Sony, Huawei, Nokia and finally Oppo. It’ll also be interesting to see what type of impact Meizu will have on the US market. They’ve really caught a lot of attention with the MX3, and they don’t seem to be backing down with Ubuntu phone and the rumored three versions of the MX4. It seems like they’ve finally managed to become exciting again.
