Former Apple CEO’s John Sculley Launches Mobile Brand in India


John Sculley, if you don’t remember him, you won’t forgot him from now on for a while. He is the former Apple CEO and also the man who fired Steve Jobs. Now he is planning to Enter Indian Mobile phone Market with a new Brand ” OBI “.

OBI is all set to introduce a series of affordable smartphones and feature phones. They will be launching as soon as next month. The phones will be priced from INR 5000-12000. Mr.Sculley have planned to invest about $20 million through singapore based Inflexionpoint, a global IT supply chain company. He target to grow business to $1 bn in two years.

Inflexionpoint acquired Singapore’s Dragon Technology will get smartphone manufactured from mainland and supply will taken care by its indian leg Iris computer. Ajay Sharma, former smartphone division head of Micromax will now be President of OBI’s mobile device business.

Its learnt that OBI has planned to increase it presence to growing markets in Asia Pacific, Latin America and Middle East. The pricing of the mobiles will be slightly higher than local brands but it will be well below than that of Samsung and Apple
