Meizu’s sudden change in heart, and style has come as a big surprise to long time followers of the brand. Their latest revelation is the most daring to date though, as the company is considering to offer their Flyme OS on rival handsets.
Meizu is Meizu for the following reasons 1) Their design and attention to detail, 2) Their traditional, but slow reactions to market trends, 3) Their highly customised version of Android called Flyme. In the past few months we have seen point 2) on the list change, as Meizu has become more aggressive and nimble, the next check point to change is 3).
Gizchina News of the week
According to news reports, Meizu is taking a few more lessons from Xiaomi, or MIUI to be more precise, and are considering to port their Flyme OS over to rival phones. MIUI has long been available for other phones, and has acted as a great tool to spread the word of Xiaomi and their products. Meizu are banking on the same and are working on Flyme OS ports for the Samsung Galaxy S4, and Xiaomi Mi3!
Although the plan is there it is still to be seen if Meizu will go ahead and actually release the ports, and which other phones will be receiving the same treatment.
Again, it is really great to see Meizu moving in the right direction, but I fear that they are spreading themselves a little thin on the ground, and their international aspirations are a little half hearted. Let’s see what happens in the coming months.
