It’s been just days since we learnt of a 5.5-inch [easyazon_link asin=”B00GLWPBT6″ locale=”UK” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”gizchicom-21″ add_to_cart=”default” cloaking=”default” localization=”default” popups=”default”]Xiaomi[/easyazon_link] phablet that managed a network license, and we already have confirmation from the Chinese giant about an impending device which fits the bill perfectly!
Known as the ‘Redmi Note’, the device will be Xiaomi’s first ever venture in the phablet territory. The Redmi Note will come with an octa-core processor (MT6592) and a 5.5-inch display with a 720p resolution, as we learnt about a day back. The design of the device is in agreement as well, but what we might’ve gotten wrong previously is the name. Instead of the rumoured ‘Hongmi 2’ model name, the device will mark the commencement of Xiaomi’s first ‘Note’ device (it isn’t hard to guess where the inspiration comes from).
Gizchina News of the week
5.5-inch Xiaomi smartphone that received network certification
We aren’t quite certain if the device will feature a stylus, but looking at the network certification pictures one would assume there is no visible slot for a stylus. However, we are open to surprises and quite like them. We’re also speculating that like the Redmi ([easyazon_link asin=”B00GLWPBT6″ locale=”UK” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”gizchicom-21″ add_to_cart=”default” cloaking=”default” localization=”default” popups=”default”]Hongmi[/easyazon_link]), the Redmi Note too is headed to markets other than only China.
Lenovo just launched a very affordable smartphone in the A850+, and one would hope to see Xiaomi being up for it with a price tag equal to or lesser than 999 Yuan ($160). Whatever be the price, those based in China can pre-order the device starting 8pm on the 19th of March (which is when the OPPO Find 7 will be launched), via the Qzone app.
