Which would you buy? Pomp C6S vs UMi X3

pomp c6s vs umi x3

The UMi X3 finally goes on sale this month but do you really need to try and fight the rush to buy the latest UMi flagship or would the Pomp C6S fit the bill?

Pomp might not have the same brand pull as UMi but the Pomp C6S is every bit a 2014 flagship smartphone as the X3 and has been on sale for months already. Both the UMi X3 and the Pomp C6S have a 5.5-inch 1080 display, octacore processor, 2GB RAM, NFC and high performing cameras. So which is the better buy?

The Pomp C6S and the UMi X3 are both great Mediatek octacore phones, and as you can see both are feature packed flagship devices any of us would be happy to own. It really comes down to the following questions as to which octacore phone you decide to buy. 1) do you need dual SIM (only the Pomp has this), 2) Which design do you prefer?, 3)How much you want to spend?

Both are cool… I would go for UMI tho, for price and ‘brand’ name. What about 900MHz WCDMA support for UMI? (not specified on SpeMall’s site…)

The European version sold by us will have both the 900 and 2100 band activated. Than will most likely not be the case for the phones sold on Chinese webshops, because they don’t have official authorization to sell outside of China.

can someone please confirm what WCDMA bands the UMI X3 is going to run at? I’ve read 900/2100 in some places. Others say 850/2100 and this article says 2100Mhz only.

    Thanks

We from UMi Europe can confirm that the version that will be on sale in Europe has both the 2100 and 900 band activated. As far as we know there will be various versions and not all versions will have the 900 band activated.

i will never buy phone longer/larger then Samsung SG III 🙂 i am very sad about this phablet madness…mobile phone should be compact pocket device…despite all cons of iphone, its design and ergonomics are just best…phone must be easily managed by single thumb of one hand. I respect people who love big HD screens, my preferences are smaller well tuned 2gb ram phone in pocket + tablet in my backpack for apps which need large screen….i dont prefer to combine both in one device.

Although the Pomp C6S looks great. There are a couple of problems here. 1: They have non-existent customer service, the guy we rang said he was too busy to take our call and hung up on me.Also they don’t always give you what the specs say but you will only find this out when the phone arrives. Then it’s too late mate. Finally the antenna well for the W99 at least was a little piece of wire attached to the case so if you are in a train , sorry no reception at all. But it does look good and if they took my W99 back I would buy it 🙂

Also, the price of the Pomp is wrong! It is $296.99 not $269.99 as stated, not sure what the Pomp offers over the UMI for the extra $48. The UMI it would be for me, but where is the 2GHz SoC they promised??

    • May 24, 2014

The Pomp C6S is $271.99 now, they have lowered the price.
The Pomp gets 28822 in Antutu, I dont remind that the Umi get that much.

I’d better buy Umi X3 (if it is dual sim), but it’s still out of stock, and there is no exact info, when it will appears and if it’s dual or not. Who knows, when they will begin to sell this model?

Pomp 32 gb is about 290 | Umi X3 16GB about 250. Pomp has MHL (YOU CAN USE TV AS A DISPLAY ALSO OTG FOR JOYSTICK TO PLAY) also Pomp is thinner 7.7mm vs 8.1. The only minus for Pomp is no information from customers, just few reviews from holders of previous quadro core version C6 where as i understand the only minus was slow Processor.

If here is anyone who got Pomp – please write here about screen quality, battery time any any additional info. Thanks.
