3GB RAM, ColorOS, 2K displays and more are in Zopo’s future

zopo roadmap

Zopo recently posted the above image claiming that some really impressive features will be on future Zopo smartphones!

While it is nice to see what a phone company has in store for it’s next model, it is even more exciting what say Zopo have in store for their next range of Android phones!

The image is basically a pretty and less detailed roadmap for the Zopo smartphones which will be launched over the coming months. There are some very impressive features on their way!

2K QHD displays (those with a resolution of 2560 x 1440) are mentioned, so is 3GB RAM, 4G LTE, 6-core processors and even 3rd partly ROMS such as ColorOS, MIUI and Flyme are claimed to be on their way to Zopo phones!

Gizchina News of the week

It is unlikely that one single phone in the upcoming Zopo range will get each of these feature off the bat, but we do know that at least the Zopo ZP1000 has been rumoured to run a Hexacore MT6591 chipset and has been seen running MIUI.

To see Zopo planning these features is promising and signals the beginning of the next Chinese smartphone arms race. Hold on to your seats!

I thought ColorOS was a Huawei thing?

Are you serious? ColorOs is a OPPO thing. Huawei uses Emotion UI

Yes, and Both are ridiculous and unneeded hubris.

Oppo was the first company to embrace Cyanomod, but lately, all the talk about porting ColorOS to competing hardware makes me think that the driving force (and wisdom) behind partnering with CM went out the door with Pete Lau!

People like it,can’t blame them. Even HTC are putting Sense on the Play Store. You don’t see people asking for touchwiz….

Yes. I agree. They should all but their customizations on the Play Store instead of “hard baking” them into the OS. All manufacturers should ship with a pure-Google and their extensions as an installable (and removable) option.

    Hey Andy,
I feel they started moving in that direction covertly.

I say that because I ended up purchasing two ZP998’s for my wife and I from Dino Direct and though the specs everywhere claim 5mp front camera our units both have 8MP Front Cameras.

They both came with the 140218 firmware update and when we powered up there was a yet to be announced new 140329 firmware update ready for us to download.

Its been 5days since we’ve had them and the GPS is flawless, AT&T 3G is flawless here in the US.

The only con is Google voice’s buggy performance. But everything else is fine.

My next upgrade will be a 64bit Octa Core with everything the ZP998’s has plus 4G LTE

They do have 5Mp cameras. They hve hardware interpolation to 8Mp, so it reports the wrong size with AnTuTu.

The only ROMs worth anything are the ones that keep up to date with Google releases. This means CM11, OmniROM and SlimKat. It’s a fools errand to waste time on the out-of-date OSes.

do you really care so much about the version number written in preferences, if it behaves smooth, works smooth and has all the bells and whistles, like miui does?
does the version number work like penis size on the scale?:D

Maybe you should ask yourself that question. It seems totally irrelevant. Miui is just a rip off of CM. And now that CM has theming options I actually do not see any reason to use Miui. It is TOTALLY outdated. I am a happy Xiaomi M2S owner but Miui is just horrible compared to Android Kitkat 4.4.2 AOSP(with Xposed) or CM11. This has nothing to do with numbers. This is only about user experience. And personally I think Miui looks terrible, even when themed, but I guess that is irrelevant too 😉

i used cm7 and cm9 i guess and it was nothing good. maybe cyanogenmod became a little better, but tcl stock launcher is twice better , than those versions. and it’s still super outdated 4.2.2 android.

        • April 9, 2014

Agreed. The 4.4 experience it much better. But aside from that, the API level has advanced, and the inter-app message passing is significantly different (read improved) in KitKat.

Unfortunately, The GPS of some of their phones is still not working great.
