Chinese phone maker Doogee sponsor Spanish football team Villarreal C.F.

doogee villarreal fc

Doogee aim to build their brand reputation in Europe by sponsoring Spanish football team Villarreal C.F.

Chinese phone makers are heading to Europe in droves, JiaYu and Zopo for example both have stores in the EU, but this is the first time we have heard of a Chinese phone maker sponsoring a European football team.

Doogee, a young up and coming phone maker specialising in low-cost and entry-level smartphones, hopes to boost it’s brand awareness in Europe by sponsoring Spanish football team Villarreal C.F.

Gizchina News of the week

President of the football team Fernando Roig signed a deal with Doogee CEO, Xin Chao and Doogee Spain to enter in a partnership with the football club. The deal will make Doogee the official smartphone supplier to the club until June 2015.

It is interesting to see that it is the smaller phone makers, Doogee, Zopo, JiaYu, who are attempting to branch out of China, while larger brands such as Xiaomi, Meizu etc are taking things much slower. Which phone brand will we see next enter Europe?

Thanks to Robert for the tip!

I doubt any football players are going to use their phones, even if it’s free

Really Andi, it seems this site is more about quantity than quality. I will look for another news site about China phones.

Hehehe, I strongly doubt: 1st) there’s a 1 into 50,000 of Chinese citizens who knows about this football team; 2nd) there’s… say 1 into 10,000 Spaniards who have heard about Doogee phones (only Huawei, ZTE, Xiaomi, Zopo, Meizu… and maybe few more are known, at least by geeks).

This is pretty big. Most Chinese brands vocus on hardware and price. It’s nice to see a Chinese brand investing in marketing like Doogee.
